Can’t open the app anymore even at home, how are you supposed to know if the system is working?

Utter Garbage
Complete garbage. The app is dreadful, half the time it wont find the inverter, even after scanning for it and recognising it, saved settings drop out, and when the clocks change the EV charger schedules remain locked to the previous time settings and so are out by an hour from the changed times meaning you end up charging at peak rate. So many times GivEnergy have promised updates and improvements, and every time they’ve failed to come good on their promises. Now they want to introduce a paid premium tier and promise to improve the software using the money they get from subscriptions - if they haven’t managed to improve things over the last several years, why should now be an different? They’re already saying that there’s a new version of the app providing local-only access, yet don’t seem to be able to spot that the most recent update on the App Store was 4 months ago. More useless and unmet promises! I’d liked to give the app zero-stars as a rating if I could!

GivEnergy are useless
Absolutely useless app. I’d give it zero stars if I could.
It may be wonderful when your installer first sets everything up, but you are on your own if you need to change anything later.
We recently purchased a property with a GivEnergy installation. After 3 months, we are still not able to connect to our supplier or manage our solar installation.
GivEnergy have been completely unresponsive to our attempts to contact them and the installer Sunsave (UK) has washed their hands of us.
If you are thinking of installing GivEnergy to increase the value of your property, I strongly advise to look elsewhere.

Home connections don’t work
We were assured that the home connections would work and would remain free whilst accessing the app away from home would now be a chargeable feature. This was disappointing in itself (having paid a substantial amount for the the installation etc) but now the home connections are intermittent at best and I have to look at my battery lights to guess what the charge is on. Really poor.

GiveEnergy Panels Caught Fire
Fire brigade dealt with the fire but GiveEnergy were NOWHERE to be seen. No customer support at all. I needed urgent assistance but there’s no way to contact them. They don’t answer the phone. AVOID.

This app has great potential, yet despite occasional updates, the app is still not 100% reliable.
The most annoying glitch is the way the battery charging time slots have a mind of their own and change randomly. This completely defeats the object of the exercise if my home battery charges during peak electricity periods.

DST doesn’t seem to know which way the clocks go in spring.
And the graphic to adjust EV charging schedule doesn’t work as there is no button to save the selection…
Essential for your battery system. But needs to do so much more. Please give us more control.
This is an essential app for anyone who has a GivEnergy battery system. But it is missing some key functions.
1. I like green but I would like to be able to choose my own colours.
2. In the settings you can program the battery to charge between a specific time until a percentage. But you are unable to export to the grid to a percentage. It would be helpful if I could export at a specific time or limited it so I don’t drain my battery completely. This would be added to the quick button.
3. Widgets would be fantastic so I can quickly keep an eye on my data from my inverter.
4. Apple shortcut integration would be fantastic that would allow me to switch off certain devices in my home when my batteries get to a certain level. Or start devices if my battery is full or I’m exporting or importing.
4. Notifications. The ability to choose to be notified when certain things take place such as battery percentage drops and exporting or importing a certain levels.

Awful
Rarely shows correct data
Historical data dates are wrong
The latest update has made the historical data view very confusing. The app shows yesterday’s data with today’s date, which then causes a knock-on effect when scrolling back through previous days. It’s now difficult to work out what was actually generated on a specific date. The website shows the correct data, so I don’t understand why the app isn’t displaying it properly. Please fix this.

Worse than useless
The app doesn’t load, they have an automated bot that answers their phone and hangs up, and they don’t respond to your emails. 😡
Smart Tariff now not functioning
Intelligent charging/ discharging has failed since the functionality was moved from the portal to app. Extremely disappointing. Timed import/export still works and the app even seems to connect with the api, but will not trigger the battery to charge or discharge.
Support ignored me, so left with no solution currently. Disappointing as this worked great for years.

DON’T BUY GIVENERGY
There are continuous bugs with the GivEnergy app or hardware. Persistent for the last 2 years.
As other reviews have commented the timed charge/discharge/import /export feature is unreliable, and often changes by itself to run whatever setting you enable 24/7, ignoring the timed slots.
GivEnergy are refusing to acknowledge this and claiming this is due to (non-existent) wifi signal issues.

Never mind all the other issues mentioned. Who the heck designs an app with white text on a light green background. 😂😂😂😂
Constantly Broken
Technically incompetent in having a working app. There is always functionalities broken limiting the users ability to manage their system efficiently. Shame as it had promise, the brand that is.
App is broken!
This app used to work fine on the iPad. But the latest update won't load properly and has apparently been that way for weeks! Sort it out GivEnergy!
Re Install to fix!
After updating the app would not load. Have re installed and signed back in and all working now.
