App does not work
Bait and switch
Paid for the lifetime service back in 2014, received a call in 2016 that the hardware was outdated (2G) and that we would have to pay $400 + labor to have a 3G version installed. What? So, we had it upgraded. Come 2022, sorry, need to pay $400 + labor to upgrade to 4G. What? This is on top of them sending you a letter every year stating that you need to call them to confirm account information, and if you don't they deactivate your account. Canceled our service, what a scam. If not a scam, a total bait and switch. Don't sell me a lifetime plan without telling me I'm going to end up spending thousands of dollars to upgrade their hardware over time. If the router your internet provider gave you gets outdated, they send you a new one for free, its included in the service you paid for, as the service doesn't work without the router, same concept with Guidepoint's hardware. I paid for lifetime, but now lose out on that money because I don't want to keep giving them money to upgrade their hardware every few years.

The system has been working
I have had GuidePoint on my truck for 18 months now. It has always reported location when requested to do so through the app. The system has also tracked my wanderings thru several states and Canadian provinces in great detail.
I have not tried the Concierge service, probably should read how to do that.
I tested the vibration sensing accidentally by closing a door without turning VIP off. They called me and after going thru the identification process turned it off. Don't try it, it's not a speedy process turning off the horn.
This gets me to what I consider to be a major flaw in the app/system. There is no indication in the app that VIP is on. There is no indication that the vehicle has actually received the command and that VIP has actually turned on.
The app indicates "Command Successful" but what does that mean? That the app and my iPhone sent out a command via the cell service to GuidePoint? Did GuidePoint get the command? Did my truck get the command? You can see an open loop here.
Maybe this feedback loop is well beyond the capabilities of the system. My concern is forgetting that the VIP is on and waking half the neighbors when I close a door or go over a bump. I want my iPhone to continually blink at me when VIP is on and the vehicle is armed.
Tracking and location determination have worked very well in my year and a half experience.
Update. 12-25-17 I have been using this iOS app and it has been tracking me everywhere. Shows my trips, parked locations, weekly summaries. Easy to use. Of course the app still operates within the scope and confines of the system in how it communicates on arming VIP as described above.
Update 03-04-20. The app has been following me and recording trips in US Northeast and up into Canada. Also took it on iPad for exploring Normandy area in France. Worked fine. I don’t have the truck camper so bridge heights are no longer a concern.

I am kind of a stickler for design and this app doesn’t do well as far as its functionality nor does it make sense as far as the workflow. It barely can tell me where my car is located and it’s definitely not intuitive. Steer clear away from this product!
Settings are not obvious
I've been using this service for about two days now and am pretty underwhelmed with how the app functions for certain features.
For Valet Mode and VIP, two very important functions, there is no obvious way of knowing if they are active or not. A simple on/off toggle switch is all it would take.
As is, the app only pops up a quick message that the selected settings are on or off, but nothing is visible to confirm that once the message disappears.

No support. Never works. What a waste. Run from this
Needs work
This app is handy, when it works that is. Sometimes I’ll be busy and want to check up on my vehicles location but the tracker on the app is literally inoperable. It crashes all the time and when I set a radius for when my vehicle departs within that radius, it fails to send me notifications. I love the service but the app needs major work

Does not get past sign in screen
I type in my username and password and it takes me to a "Loading..." screen. I've deleted and re-installed the app. My Honda dealership installed a device in my car to use with with app. Such a cheap way to make an extra buck.
This wont tell you current location of your car..
You will not be able to find your car unless your car stays same spot for two days..
Vehicle Security Locator Device/ ios App will never work
Do not invest in Guidepoint's vehicle security device. You can't access on your phone and you have yo call in each time you want to check on your vehicle. This company will keep giving you excuses, on how they are fixing the problem. When in reality the no access to locating your vehicle is their intention all along.
This is a case of buyer beware.
I will be looking into a new device with another company.

The app does not work
This app does not load my vehicle location. It just spins trying to locate. It used to work just fine. I now have to use google chrome app and load guidepoint website in order to locate my vehicle. Please fix this issue with an update! Oh yes, i tried with 2 different lPhone 6 plus, no luck.
Latest Version "Broken"
Car located on computer, no problems. Recent update has broken the app! As in the previous review, deleting, and reinstalling the app does not fix the problem... Please fix ?!?! iPhone 6s (ios 9.3.2)

I have an iPhone 6 so there is no reason this app should not be working! It was locating very slow, then it just stopped locating at all. I uninstalled & reinstalled the app, turned off & on the phone. I looked & just noted the app update. I can't even get into services to see if I can get help. It is working on the computer, so it is the app that has a problem. I'll erase this review if you will fix the app.

Finally this version of the app corrected many of the previous problems. The app has increasing speed. It no longer required repeated logon.

Crappy app - Please fix
This app is really crappy. Everytime I attempt to log in when not using wi-fi (away from home), I get an error message that says "Alert. Login attempt timed out. Please try again." I paid enough money to have guidepoint installed in my new car, yet I can't even access the app when I most need it. Please fix this problem ASAP!!!!!
