Forced to display recent image on Duo
There’s no way to use the full inner display for just image capture, half the display MUST be the most recent image. On top of that, Halide suffers the same annoying problem when using the inner display: all images are in a forced orientation despite rotating the phone between landscape and portrait. The ONLY way to take wide images is using the smaller outer display. Bogus, man.

Still great but slipping
Halide is still a hall-of-famer camera app, and led the Process Zero revolution… but the extremely rushed and ill considered iPhone Duo release has me worried about the design future of Lux (the developer). It’s not that things aren’t perfect right away (it was pushed out really quickly to catch launch buzz which is understandable) - it’s that the design decisions are so questionable, it makes me wonder why they were even progressed.
The execution is fine to have wobbles - but the ideas here are bad. Especially the core idea of having a permanent, undismissable preview photo blaring out of the screen at you at all times when shooting on the inner screen. There is no option to disable it, and it completely ruins full screen shooting.
The selfie mode (where you swipe to unlock use of the outer screen with the main cameras) is just straight up broken. It shows the inner screen UI, with the wrong camera, flipped to the wrong orientation. It is simply unusable - it should never have shipped in this state.
This app *has* an iPad UI that could just as easily have been adapted. Instead, a truly terrible idea was pushed out. It fundamentally misunderstands what a camera is to a photographer when shooting.
I know it has been a turbulent time for Halide with people leaving and whatnot, and I will remain a paying customer to support what has been truly one of the greats… but this update has me concerned there isn’t a keen design eye at the wheel.

Lied about Duo support
It’s still a tiny app running with huge black bars around it. Your claims about Duo support are misleading.

Crashes on launch + other issues
(iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 27.0.1) After giving the necessary permissions, the app crashes on every subsequent launch. Please fix!
Besides that, I'd like to be able to set the app to automatically open in any mode, not just Auto. Seems counterintuitive for a professional camera app to be missing something so basic.
