What's New in Skylight Forecast

1.0.9

June 13, 2023

This update helps out northern friends. This time of year, areas such as Norway won't see a post-sunset "Afterglow," and this bug fix ensures the Skylight interface handles things properly.

Gorgeous design but not very accurate

The app features gorgeous design, throughout, thanks to the profound talents of Seb. As far as accuracy goes, it’s ok. Hopefully, as AI improves, they’ll update their algorithm to be far more accurate. It’s also surprising that an app named ‘Skylight’ completely ignores sunrises. I’m also concerned about the lack of updates for 9 months, and the missing icon that was promised to early adopters 10 months ago. It seems they’ve moved on to another app.

Well-crafted, simple and useful

Skylight is a simple, well-crafted app that has been correct much more than it has been incorrect in predicting the chance of great evening light. I personally think the widget for home and lock screens provide more value for the day-to-day.

It’s helps me to decide when to pick the camera up from the shelf to capture the view.

Not bad but not great.

I participated in the beta and it was ok. Wasn’t great but wasn’t bad either. I did discover that on the days the app said the sunset wasn’t going to be great because of the weather, I saw the sunset was great because of the weather. While this might be a good app for beginner photographers, it’s experience that tells you when a time is going to be good.

While the $10/year isn’t unreasonable, it’s just not something I’m going to pay for having been in the beta.
