HEARING • Ear age: a tone climbs from 8 to 20 kHz; where it vanishes is your number. • Hearing check: six frequencies per ear, one beep at a time, drawn as a threshold curve and explained in plain words. • Words in noise: three spoken digits buried in noise. Four Apple models have a reference profile, so results come out as an estimate in dB HL; every other pair is labelled relative. Every result carries its headphones and volume, and the ledger only compares like with like — so "results depend on your headphones" stops being a surprise and becomes a label. IT NOTICES WHEN A TEST GOES WRONG Four seconds of the microphone before a hearing check tells you whether the room is quiet enough — a room louder than the tones is what gets measured otherwise. While the test runs, Hark watches the output: if your earbuds drop out, the volume moves or a call interrupts, it stops, says exactly what happened, and re-runs that frequency. Whatever the conditions were is written on the result, good or bad. TRENDS, AND SOMETHING TO HAND OVER Every check plots over time, within one set of gear at a time — a change of headphones is never drawn as a change in you.
