The MJ of Fiction

Some of the greatest writing of all time in fiction

High Quality Gacha JRPG with Beautiful Art

I actually came across the Heaven Burns Red pop-up shop in one of the anime stores in Akihabara, Tokyo in Japan. At the time, only the JP version was available and I wish I was able to play it then. A year later, I was surprised the English version was released! I couldn't wait to download and play it. I love all of the references to other anime like Angel Beats, which is one of my favorites. This is a high quality gacha JRPG with a fantastic story, battle system and artwork. Don't miss out!!

Extremely Underrated

I really REALLY wish this game becomes more mainstream. In my opinion the music is very good and that's kinda what got me into the game, if you do ads you should focus more on the music to get more people invested.

Peak game

Y’all gotta play this

Best gacha out there

Super cute gacha. Worth playing!

real

the characters feel alive. the world feels so lived-in. it’s refreshing. all the dialogue is beautifully voiced. i adore the work put into this

Giocando stupendo

Heaven Burns Red è il gioco gdr più bello in assoluto, musica e combattimento e trama che ti lascia una lacrimuccia ed eventi molto belli

Best protag in history

Ruka is such an unhinged, unapologetically lesbian protag and I love her for that. The goofy out-of-pocket nonsense you see in the prologue (which you can try before downloading the rest of the game) is maintained throughout. Very much so a breath of fresh air compared to most other gacha. And it looks like there's even a main ship going on, with the other characters spurring them on and even having shippy moments of their own. The dialogue in general of this game is absolutely top tier, and you can tell how much care was put into the writing just from how you're given actually different dialogue options (looking at you Hoyo, constantly putting two options that are just two segments of the same sentence), and lengthy unique followup dialogue for each option. Still haven't gotten enough of those "connections" moments where the music playing makes it sound like you're going to make some profound discovery by connecting the points, when in reality it's just Ruka's two brain cells firing off at once. My favorite so far was "The cancer [monster]..."
1a) "has grown to a point where it..."
1b) "like how we used to, it..."
1c) "at incredible speeds, it..."

2a) "...needs to take a dump."
2b) "...wants to go home to see its parents."
2c) "...has gone on a diet."

And for all 9 potential combinations, you get unique dialogue for each. 1b and 2a earns you a side eye from Yuki as she congratulates Ruka for being able to surpass the need to take a dump, while 1c and 2a has Yuki getting concerned at the implications of how much energy it's gathering to be able to move so swiftly and require dumps so often. And every single piece of dialogue is fully and enthusiastically voiced.

On top of the brilliant dialogue and banter, the story and worldbuilding itself is amazing. Expect the same level of writing, if not even better, from the two masterpieces of Charlotte and Angel Beats. Humanity is at the brink in this game, and despite being a gacha, the story does not shy away from this reality and the inevitable deaths that come with it. It's a slice of life at home base and real stakes and tension out on the battlefield, which I'd say is the perfect balance for an engaging story. While I do enjoy the combat (and the banger music that plays along with it) even as someone that doesn't usually like turn-based combat, I'd pay money even if this was just a standalone visual novel.

Good visual novel but broken game balance

I enjoyed the story but I can not progress anymore, my account starts to be stuck in limbo since chapter 4, if you don’t have very good meta supports your team do barely any damage even with gear and units maxed. So I looked at the tier list and I now I know that most banners are trash and I have to wait months for the broken units that make the battles less horrible.

Code เชิญ, too much lagging

- too much lagging pls fix

Very good

Haven’t encountered any issues or bugs, also very funny

Hmmm

Awesome game I think. Ch 1 is a grind I just finished it and you have to beat that to unlock events. It’s a good game it’s just long, and on iOS if you’re in low power mode screen will shut off even if you’re mid battle on auto it’s so weird and annoying you can’t leave your phone on low power mode and walk away my phone sleeps. 4* rating only
Bc this is the only gacha I’ve ever played that shuts off screen mid battle

Do not expect a gacha game

This is a visual novel at its core. Although there are combat and gacha features, it is by no means combat- or gacha-centric. If you play for anything but the characters, art, or story, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.

The character interactions (JP) are hilarious, the art is beautiful and uniquely styled, and the story is… well, so far it’s just alright, but I’ve heard Chapter 2 is really really good so I’m looking forward to it. Don’t expect a gacha game! Play it like a VN!!

Very mixed

I’m not sure how long this game is or how much it’ll cost me to complete it (so far I have spent over $200; I’m thinking it’ll cost me around $2k to actually complete the game. {Now, to completely 100% it, that is maximize all characters’ powers/potential would probably cost 10x what I can afford}. Hopefully not more than that).

Enjoyable story; tearjerking moments have indeed wrung me out like a wet washcloth; the comedic moments are more cringey than anything, but I have genuinely laughed a couple of times; that being said comedic moments, good or bad, are a must in stories that deal with more serious and heartfelt moments, they allow juxtaposition and breathing space or reprieve for the reader. I’m impressed on how many characters actually have background stories. I enjoy the slice of life moments and interactions

Not a fan of the level grinding, gacha pulling, resource managing, etc basically anything that takes me away from the visual novel aspects of the game and turns it into a costly slog just to get further along in the story portion of the game.

I’m hoping this game will take a long time to complete in the way Clannad took a long time and not because of repetitive dungeon crawling gameplay.

Great game

Story is the best of the best gacha game of all time.

Returning player

Played this game and launch then dropped up and picked up again for the Angel Beats collaboration.
Pros:
The game has good visuals, voice acting is great, and this game is the closest people will get to turn based gameplay in a visual novel.
Cons:
Character progression is painstakingly slow.
Too many character banners with extremely low drop rates.
Too many copies required for character development.
Game freezes when trying to claim rewards on start up.
Game freezes after completing standby missions for character exp/materials and attempting to interact with other menus.
Will have multiple events active at a time with varying duration. With all the events requiring a life points(farming resource with a limit of 5 and take hours to regenerate). There is not enough time to farm all the event rewards for single event if you wait for your points to regenerate naturally. Farming more than one is impossibility.

Salah satu Key Masterpiece

Jika kamu menyukai visual novel, terutama yang sejenis dengan angel beats, clannad , wajib main sih

funny and sweet

the story is both hilarious and heart wrenching, the gameplay is fun and makes you think of strategies.

your choices in dialogue also actually matter too- characters will reference your choices in later dialogues. everything is fully voiced with talented vas.

overall, highly recommend.
