User reviews

Inferior

There are Breaking News apps that provide significantly better reports of noteworthy incidents almost immediately after. There are times I don’t receive updates until 12 hrs later if at all using this app. It’s fairly useless.

Response from developer

Thank you Sheepdog16Pro. We agree with you. We are not trying to be a news outlet. There are plenty of those sources already in place. Our Hero911 app only provides notifications for locations that use the Guard911 sister service (guard911.com). If a location does not use Guard911, the app has no way of knowing about the emergency. Our average notification time for Guard911 emergencies is within seconds and goes out only to LEOs in the nearby vicinity of the alert that are able to arrive on scene quickly. It does not go out to everyone. We do post only school and workplace related emergencies through our Nationwide Situational Awareness Messaging System (NSAMS), but only to help spread the work about how frequently these tragedies take place. These alerts are only for awareness. We would ask you to change your review to help us to continue our mission of saving lives. Please also help us spread the word about Guard911 to stop these senseless acts of violence.

Worthless

This app hasn’t covered a shooting since September and doesn’t give adequate notification.
There was a school shooting 3 hours prior to me writing this, no notification, not is it on their page when you click on the US icon at the bottom.

I am a Fed LEO and a Guard member.
The DoD pays for me to have the Dataminer First Alert app, it’s available to others.
Far better sources with numerous setting options.
I have on occasion received notifications prior to dispatched units arriving on scene.

Everyone understand that timely notifications is paramount in active shooter incidents, Hero911 need to step up its game

Thank you Servus Bellator. We believe there is a misunderstanding on what alerts the Hero911 app provides. The app can only provide notifications for locations that use the Guard911 sister service (guard911.com). If a location does not use Guard911, the app has no way of knowing about the emergency. Our average notification time for Guard911 emergencies is within seconds and goes out to all LEOs in the nearby vicinity of the alert that are able to arrive on scene. It does not go out to everyone. We do post school and workplace related emergencies only through our Nationwide Situational Awareness Messaging System (NSAMS), but only to help spread the work about how frequently these tragedies take place. We do not post emergencies we do not feel are school or workplace related. As the name indicates, these alerts are only for awareness. We would ask you to change your review to help us to continue our mission of saving lives.

App not working.

I have an IPhone 13 Pro Max with the current IOS updates. Now when I click on Hero911 after having it since it came out it just closes immediately. I went to check because I have not received any messages or update in awhile. I click on the app it goes to the Home Screen and immediately closes.

Response from developer

Hi Kdlsarge, we are sorry for this inconvenience. Apple makes iOS changes from time to time that will cause an app to stop working. Have you tried to update the app from the app store? If that does not work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app. When the app comes up, select the Already a Member option, enter your information and the app will recognize you. It only takes a minute. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Today’s new update

Just did the update. Once it completed I tried to open the app and it immediately crashed and disappeared. This now occurs every time I try to open the app. Because I did the update I now can no longer open the app. Please help. The app worked fine prior to the update.
