Not ready for actual use. DO NOT PURCHASE

I purchased this app based on the fact that it could integrate with Garmin and/or Intervals.icu. In both cases it was not able to do so. I messaged support over 10 days ago to see about a refund. I got one email back suggesting that I try to reconnect the app Garmin and intervals.icu. This is something I had already tried before I messaged support. After trying it for a third time and it still not working, I messaged support for a refund. I have not been ghosted for over 5 days. DO NOT fall for the claims that the developer has regarding the app integration. This is nowhere near ready for actual use.

What happened?

It was pretty good when I started just under a year ago, tho I haven’t achieved my goals of losing the weight, not for not following the daily course but for sleep deprivation reasons, I believe this is a great tool. I took a break since you’re not ever really going to lose weight if you can’t sleep no matter how well you follow this. Coming back after getting the sleep fixed there has been a major update, the problem is I get kicked out everyday and have to log in over and over again. Guys, please fix this!

Don’t buy

I am an avid cyclist and used to like this app. They then released a major update ruining the app. The app now has a much smaller food database. In addition it no longer recognizes products from major cycling food brands. A significant number of foods only support grams and not other measurements. The app now sucks. I am canceling my subscription at the end of my contract period and I am considering moving to a new app express then. Nice job Hexis!!!!!

Recent Database update

I like Hexis, I love what it is trying to achieve, and I found it useful. That was until last week and the Database ‘update’ last week.
It has basically left it unusable for me.
All custom foods gone.
All UK based foods gone.
My custom meals all messed up.

I’m pretty annoyed to be honest, it’s the start of race season and whilst it is not the be all and end all, Hexis was a tool that I could rely on to dial in my nutrition. Now it’s useless for me.

I am seeking to cancel my subscription until a time when Hexis is back and functional.

This app isn’t for sedentary calorie counters

This app isn’t for sedentary calorie counters and that’s the point

Most of the bad reviews are from people trying to use Hexis like MyFitnessPal. That’s the wrong audience.

Hexis is built for endurance athletes whose fueling needs change every day based on training load. It syncs with real training data and teaches you when and how much to eat not to obsess over logging lettuce.

Once you understand the small / medium / large carb approach, it’s far more useful than traditional calorie apps. I can look at my training and immediately know how to fuel, even when traveling or eating out.

If you’re sedentary and just want to “stay under calories,” stick with MyFitnessPal.
If you actually train and care about performance, Hexis is on another level.

Latest update

The finding food search / creating meals seemed fairly poor already.

The latest update has deleted all the custom foods I add in addition to searching for items now not working at all.

App is now completely unusable for me. Such a shame as I really want it to work….!

This app isn’t for sedentary calorie counters

I really wanted to love this app because the actual nutrition approach has helped my performance, but the recent update has been a major downgrade.

The food logging is now much worse. Favorites are gone, foods I used regularly no longer show up, barcode scanning fails on items that should be easy to find, and the whole experience feels more broken than before. The old version was glitchy, but at least it was usable. This update made the app far more frustrating and much less functional.

If the team restores the old logging reliability and fixes the database/search issues, I’d be happy to improve my rating. But right now I can’t recommend it based on the current app experience.

I’m on the team!

I’ve tried quite a few. Feel this one is the best thus far. Using in conjunction with TPeaks.

Needs work

Could be great but it is consistently inconsistent. Support is not responsive making the app not worthwhile.

Terrible unratable

I can’t believe I paid for this. Food look up is painful given what is available on other apps. The app lags. Logging into the site lags. Information is poorly structured and the workflow is prehistoric. I can’t believe I paid for it.

Just wont work

I download the app paid the money and its just will not work - the login page will not load either online or in the app - so I cannot login - there’s no live contact support so I can’t resolve.

Impossible to cancel

Have tried to cancel subscription but nothing has happened and being constantly chased for payment. Despite contact with support nothing has changed . I’d be cautious signing up

It’s getting there

I tried this app last winter and was not a fan. Nothing seemed to work correctly. I just downloaded it again as it is free with a training plan I am using. It has improved somewhat, but has a long ways to go. The good- it integrates well with training peaks. No issues pulling workouts for your schedule and adding them to your day. It doesn’t great job adjusting your intake based on the workouts you do. The nutrition suggestions for workouts also seem to work well. It would be nice if that added some hydration suggestions as well. The bad-the food logging is just not very good. Coming from MacroFactor, this app has a long ways to go. The scan feature was a nice addition. However, it works maybe 10% of the time. The interface is clunky and not user friendly. The cost is high for what you get. It makes more sense for me to use MacroFactor ($75/year) and the Saturday nutrition app ($5/month) than it does to use Hexis for $20/month. Both do a better job individually at what they are good at than Hexis does trying to combine the 2 with mediocre results. I will continue to try it while it’s free, and will update my review if things improve. It’s a great idea, it’s just lacking delivery.

Workout input issues

Why is this happening!!?

I love this app… BUT I cannot cannot get the workout is input for the rest of the week save to the correct day. It means the app can’t preplan my food because it won’t know what I’m doing for the next few days.. which is the whole point. It worked ok for a week and then just stopped. I fill in the date correctly then it appears on a different day.
The only other issue is that the pre workout carbs are VERY low but then the post workout carbs very high. Why is this? Surely not up to date with currently thinking.

Worst part of the app is the app itself

I like what they are trying to do with this app, but it seems like their strengths are not in coding because the app runs terribly. It would be one thing if you offered the app at a good price in exchange for users dealing with all the bugs and glitches, but its too much expecting me to pay full price and deal with this. Sometimes it takes adding a food item 4-5 times before it will actually save. Good concept, I wont consider redownloading this app for a while

Update Flaws Make the Purchase Useless

App was working well, but for some reason they decided to update the app almost fully, which make it so flawed that it doesn’t work correctly: 1st you can’t edit/update timing of meals; 2nd adjusting amount in quick menu always goes back to previous amount; 3rd Pull up menu doesn’t always function and now they updated something in the app that doesn’t fix anything, plus no support for paying costumers, you wonder who allowed this update to go out? Anyways, stay away, not worth the money at this time!

Good content but poor SW development

The idea is good and the database of foods is impressive. However, the user interface is too unreliable requiring app restarts to get screens unfrozen or to get the favorites list to completely populate or populate at all. Not a good value for a pricey subscription offering. I wonder if an earlier less widely distributed version was more stable and making the jump to a wider audience has exposed interface issues. I am being this honest because I worked in SW development for a long time and we would not allow a product like this past R&D. Sorry, guys, bad engineering.

Data being lost

Been using for over a week and been recording pretty religiously and now all my data keeps dropping. Such a waste of time and effort. So disappointing as initially thought the app was going to help - probably heading back to another app

Promising Concept, But Too Many Bugs to Justify the Price

I’ve been looking for a good nutrition app to support my cycling training and this one seemed ideal. The TrainingPeaks integration and coaching sync are great features and exactly what I was after.

However, it still feels unfinished and not reliable enough to justify the price. As a tech lead at a major software company, I can say with confidence that this app is full of bugs, crashes regularly and is frustrating to use. In the end, I cancelled my subscription because it just doesn’t offer good value for money in its current state.

The app has huge potential, but it needs regular updates and a real focus on fixing core issues.
