What's New in Hip Licks for Alto Sax (V1)

This is a completely redesigned version of the Hip Licks for Saxophone app. This new version works with both ipad and iphone. New features Include: automatic scrolling in landscape view, user-adjustable tempo, looping of any lick you choose and choice for three different accompaniments: with sax demo, with rhythm section only, or trading 2's or 4's with Greg Fishman. Another new feature is a built-in video recorder app that will film you playing along with the app and save it as a movie in your photo album folder on your iphone or ipad.

Something for everyone

I found this to be a great app, suited to all levels of sax player. There is enough content here to breath life into repetitive solos when your running out of ideas.

You can here influences of bebop, hard pop, and Michael Brecker I think, in the lines chosen.

More licks than a nice cream

Bought this a week ago and have worked my way through the exercises. The backing tracks are great and you have 2 speed options. All keys are covered and there are some licks you'll want to use again and again. I plan to play these over so I can add them to my arsenal. Highly recommended.

You Need This App!

If you have been transferring PDF's to your iPad, as I have (using "forScore"), and using your iPad for just about everything, then you will love this app. The Hip Licks app is very intuitive and fun to use with my private students. I am able to mirror my ipad using AppleTV and project the music on a big screen. My students really enjoy this feature. You could also use this app in an improvisation class or jazz ensemble and project this on a Smartboard. Having the app will enable you to listen to the music when you are unable to practice. I find this to be a very useful feature. Read the description of the app. It gives you all the info you need. The book and the app are the same but the convenience, look and usefulness of the app makes it a must have. I highly recommend this as well as Greg's other apps and books.
