Good start - needs more

This is a good start, but one of the biggest issues is it requires people to notice they are about to emotionally eat and then pause about it. Most people don’t notice until they are already snacking or after they’ve finished. I think maybe one notification an hour for a set time (7pm to 10pm is when I do my most snacking) just checking in would be helpful. One notification at the start of my evening just doesn’t do it for me.

There are also very limited options for what to do in the ten minute pause. I think part of the “onboarding” should be selecting a bunch of options from a big list that apply to you. Then each pause offers four of them at random and an “other” options where yiu can select from the others or create your own.

I think changing settings so the screen doesnt auto-lock during the ten minute pause would also help. Once it auto locks and is out of sight, I forgrt about it. Seeing it as a reminder would be super helpful. Or providing really badic activities within the app to help pass the ten minutes. Sudoku, word search, or other small puzzles might work.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback! I'll plan on building more notifications, including more options to choose from during the pause (custom option similar to the custom danger window), and deactivate auto lock + notifications during the timer. Thanks again.

App was helpful

Was initially skeptical, but after using the app the last couple of nights, my anxious eating urge dissipated.

That's great news!

10/10

Helps me control my urge to eat at night. The timer gives me something to think about other than my urge and the hold makes me occupy my hands so I don’t reach into the fridge. I will continue to use this everyday on my weight loss journey. I love the positive energy and vibes that the messages display. I love how they contrast the negative vibes of the guilt that I feel when I have my fifth bowl of ice cream. They make me feel like I can resist the urge to take that fifth bowl, like I am strong enough to. Highly recommend this app.
