It’s a great game but here are some suggestions

After playing this game for half a day it’s great. My only problem is the UI is a little overwhelming, I’m used to a lot of UI but it’s just sorta all crammed in there and is hard when I’m trying to readjust the ships. I would like it if they added a feature to remove some UI or move it around to be more comfortable.

Another thing is that I would like to mute chat so that I don’t have to see notifications popup a lot. Be better if I could mute certain chats.

Next would be a way to communicate with players privately or click on their name and chat with them, party’s one way to chat but another way would be great.

And for a side not I feel that the main story sorta just isn’t forced in your face after about chapter 7 and I just sorta got lost on what to do. (ironic because that is a part of my name) I would like it if there was a little more direction. Maybe you can add it as a setting on whether or not you want it to be shoved into your face or not and you offer a popup with the options and saying it can always be changed later.

And finally, sometimes I accidentally start dragging a ship I didn’t want to move and can’t cancel it can that be added as a way to do so, I know when I drag from the menu I can cancel it but when I drag from the ship itself it will face a different direction.

Sincerely,

Was great but…

Was having a blast until I tried logging after a week hiatus and the system no longer recognizes my login credentials, losing a month of progress. There’s no way to rectify this from the login screen as there’s no options to select settings or anything. My only relief is I never paid for anything, so not much of a loss besides my time spent getting to lvl31! Would like to continue playing if any dev sees this but I won’t be going out of my to solve this, have in there folks, it’s a great game besides never being able to join a guild, but fun none the less.

Edited: it’s actually ok.

It’s honestly ok except for the crashing, which got fixed in 1.8.5. The reason I thought that it was awful was because I forgot how to play. That is the reason I rated it 4 stars. It doesn’t do a very good job of explaining how to play, and leaves you mostly to figure it out yourself. While this is possible, it’s tough and will take a while. But underneath all of the layers of complexity and instruction (or rather lack of it), there is a game that is great at heart. This game is a little scuffed, could use some work in some areas like the instruction, but underneath it all you have something that is worth your time.

This is the absolute WORST GAME EVER

Do not get. If I could rate it lower I would. This game is literal TRASH! All the devs want is for you to pay, pay, pay! It is like: mneh mneh mneh, you MUST create an assault frigate! But then when you go to create it, it goes like: Insufficient Resources and is like go get more! Well, I’ll tell ya. YOU CANT!!! When you leave the station to go back to where you found asteroids to mine some more to get enough resources, it takes you to a different place than the place you wanted to go to, but it says that its the right place even though it’s NOT! So the only way to get the resources is to buy a pack with them in it! These devs are just greedy, moneysucking MONSTERS!! Go and play some actual good games. Don’t waste your time on this bundle of garbage.

New To Homeworld Entirely! HWM is still alive and worth it.

I started to get into the whole Homeworld franchise roughly 3 months ago. After watching the original HW game then HW2 and later HW Deserts of kharak, I started to love the game by which it takes place and the story behind the Hiigarans. I was later introduced to Homeworld mobile which got me even more excited as I learned this game takes place 15 years after the events of HW2. Being a mobile game I have found it most entertaining and although there’s been minor issues from log in crashes, minor crashes while playing or moments of non clarification within the game, I’ve still enjoyed the game immensely. Yes in the beginning you are thrown in the game with little to no explanation of the basic mechanics and later have to figure out what is what. But for me as a player within games, I enjoy learning as I go and I like to get creative with how I play within a game. Being a sci-fi lover and geek, the creative approach of building your own fleet and having to manage your stuff, staff and over all upgrades appeals to me. To me, I get to role play how I want and imagine how I would lead my fleet within Homeworld lore. So before you judge this game because of its technical issues, really give it a chance and you’ll see, this game is wonderful and beautiful at its core!

Mired in UX issues and complex mechanics

The game is fairly fun until you start getting into the more complex builds and gas mining. After my first gas harvester blew up because I wasn’t watching it too carefully, and then I saw what it took to rebuild it… I left my clan and deleted the game. The UX interface has challenges of tapping targets and then accidentally tapping things in the background. The pathing for research and building is painfully elusive mired in supporting technologies. The game overall is not intuitive and the quests that are built into the progress do not help the user toward a clear end goal. You can end up building and farming into a dead end and then back peddling to find out where you went wrong. And then their are factions which seem to be another layer that is slathered onto this mess. One would think that gaining faction would at least help with the cost or the supporting technologies needed from each faction. Nope, you just build up faction to unlock access. The factions seem to not interpose each other while there is clearly conflict between each faction. Oh and the game crashes a lot. At the end of the day, I really wish I didn’t start playing this game. It really felt like a waste of time after I deleted it.

Great but Frustrating

I loved the original home, world, and this game lives up to that heritage. It’s an awesome game, well worth your time.
That being said, it does have some issues. Confusion over issues like refining or, constructing capital, ships, etc. can be frustrating. The game does do a great job training for the initial interface, but later tasks are where the confusion sets in. It’s almost enough to make me think the game is still buggy.

Not Homeworld

It’s in the universe, but it’s nothing like the actual game. It’s another grind fest type game where you run the same missions over and over. Join a clan, grind the clan missions, stay active or get kicked out. It’s the same game type as so many games. Typically, they push micro transactions with options to pay and pay and pay to play.

Best of all (worst), the game crashes all the time. Missions won’t load so the game crashes. Almost done with a mission and it crashes and all progress lost. Click on a menu and it crashes. If you like restarting the game on a regular basis after a crash, this is the game for you!

Most enjoyable free experience

The game itself is a terrible grind. There is progression however slowly. I wish there was more stuff along the way to keep you baited. And thats not to say that there isn’t. Its just very far between. I was lvl 9 when i asked the community via chat when i could upgrade cannons on my main vessel. I can’t recall exactly when it was 12-15 in that area and for the casual gamer that was a eternity. Then the resources. The star systems. The weapons type and slot with much or any explanation. Requisition and its lvl and now place to see what yours is and its draggin progress. Overall this sound’s negative. The game itself however is very enjoyable despite that routine. It is however spread out on a table simple and just spread out over to much bread to make it “more”. Again though i mist stress as far as a free experience goes. Its up there.

😐

Graphics look great. Plays like a stripped down version of the original Homeworld. I think I was hoping for something more like that original. For a mobile shared environment, there is very limited player interactions which mostly boil down to cooperatively beating down enemy ships while mining. The straw that broke the camel’s back, however, was all the time and resources I spent into building a battle cruiser, only to have it suddenly disappear directly after pushing the collect button. After that I spent more than two weeks attempting to meet the goals set for the next tier, but without the promised battle cruiser and suffering the loss of all of the resources spent on it, the game isn’t worth playing (or paying.) Add to that the somewhat toxic community in chat and non-existent community in gameplay, it just feels like a big waste of time. Pity, since I still love the original Homeworld… too bad we can’t have that on a mobile platform.

Good! Could be better.

Immersive and relaxing, but could you dev reduce some of the clicking / tapping? Changing ship load out screen should allow multiple selections from the hangar and save, instead of one by one. Same goes when opening containers, why not group them together? The assignment section can be very cryptic, allow for mOre linear progression and explicit objectives? Great game overall, still crashes a lot on latest IPad. Would be great a version. For OS too.

Good graphics and graphics only

So easy to get disconnected. Loading takes forever. I never see the tedious “assignment “ to an end and it really gave me the feeling that I’m actually doing my assignments. Please get a better at UX. Thank you. Oh, the research feature gets locked down until you finish those assignments. I never finished just you know.

Edit again in Sep 2023. I tried this game last Jan and thought it may be improved a lot since then. Even when I read all the crash alerts I still kept playing. Unfortunately, the game crashed after an hr. I want to say I’m so disappointed and want to tell you there are so many other options out there. Please save your time.

Our Home Is Our World, Our Life

Good game: artwork, music, sound.

Good community: no PvP so everyone behaves themselves and helps one another.

It looks and sounds like RTS Homeworld, but it isn’t. It feels like a standard grinding freemium game disguised as a space combat RPG with a Homeworld paintjob. It’s not bad at all, but it isn’t what an OG Homeworld player might be expecting. I’m an OG Homeworld player, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Homeworld Mobile. Also you don’t need to spend real money to have fun, but it might help, of course. I haven’t (yet) but still having a nice time, though I’m used to grinding and waiting for sometimes days for an item to fabricate so I can move on and level up.

If it weren’t for the frequent crashes, I’d be in the game longer. But thankfully the game crashes frequently so I’m not in the game longer. 🤣

What’s very cool is the community. When I started out at Tier Zero, players in Tier 3 would announce "hey, ima grind Tier One ore if anyone needs cover" in global chat, and they'd protect me and other low tier players from the too-frequently spawning bad guys. Now that I'm T2 I’m paying it forward covering lower tier players as we grind for resources. It’s fun!

Take my money

...well, kind of. For a free to play game, if you liked the Homeworld PC version this mobile version feels nostalgic. It doesn't have all the features of the PC version but it’s good enough. I like that it’s only PVE, and I can take big risks without permanently loosing my hard earned flagship. It can feel “grindy”for some, so be warned. It’s a friendly MMO overall. The graphics are good, and the music and background chatter is just right.

An outstanding game that continues to improve!

I am very happy with this game. The Devs are working diligently to improve this game every major patch. In my opinion, to many players look for the perfect game for themselves. The amount of time and effort to make a quality game is difficult and time consuming. I applaud the Devs that stride to do the best they can despite the annoying selfish, and ungrateful peanut gallery’s whining comments. This game can be played totally free which is nice. The graphics are awesome and stunning to look at. The game is really fun to play as well. Try it out, if you don’t like it, delete it and move on to another game that fits your play style and personality; no need to leave disparaging remarks.

“Stellar” Space Opera in a mobile game. Minor bugs.

This game has hit the perfect mark for my taste. Realistic communication chatter, great graphics, and fun fleet engagements. The only bug I have run into is that the sound cut out inexplicably today. The game is still fun without the sound, and my wife probably enjoys not hearing the explosions, but the audio is so great, I really miss it. I deleted and reloaded the game, but still have the same problem. Hoping for a fix.

Games Looking Good

I started playing this game last year but I ended up finding myself in a odd stop with the game trying to figure out where to go and what to do next so I ended up quitting for a few months but I’m looking to try it out again after a few months to see what the updates have changed with the game

Otherwise I found the graphics style and combat engaging enough but I never made it far enough to find out how much depth it has so after I play for a few more months I’ll be back to advice this rating.

Great iteration of the PC franchise

As a alpha/beta tester for this game I got to see it develop from a buggy cross platform game with huge potential, into a stable polished gem of my all time favorite game franchise. It does still have a few minor issues and it’s still being expanded and improved but overall it’s one of the best complex games on mobile.

Too many bugs

When it works it is a fun game but there are too many bugs for this to be playable, I have to restart the app fairly often for it to perform what should be very simple actions, like allowing me to push the collect button on something I have just built. This app also requires a very fast internet connection, the loading screens (of which there are many) last even longer when your internet is slow.
