Good but…
I’ve been using hostelworld for years, and up until now I would’ve gave it 5 stars. It works well for booking accommodation, lets you meet other travellers and has chats for the cities you visit. Tell me why I have to pay for that feature now? Just disappointing that everything requires a subscription nowadays.

This app is one of the best ways to enter the backpacking community all over the world when you’re solo traveling. I can’t recommend enough
Professional organizations
The breakfast is wonderful the space clean , friendly and peaceful. Love the open air kitchen and rooftop seating. This has been a wonderful experience. Had to make to some travel arrangements due to flight cancellations, and the front desk was a minimal and accommodated us, which is fantastic

Après 5 hébergements booké sur Hostelworld dans différents pays du monde, je peux dire que l’appli est fiable facile d’accès, les établissements sont de qualité. Étant une femme qui voyage seule je peux dire que c’est ma source sûre de réservation. Vous pouvez foncer!

Customer service/rebooking is impossible
The app will automatically select dates for a random date when refreshed. Once the booking is made, they make it impossible to change. Even if you notice within minutes after booking. Really frustrating when just going back to look at options, the dates automatically change. It’s a money grab and they know it.

Full of fake reviews
This is the worst hostel and accommodation booking platform. Really frustrating to use i was trying to book a hostel and they showed me hostels in a different city to which i was searching for. They easily delete any critical reviews of hostels which lets all the scammer hostels thrive. The chat function is also dead and useless.

It’s changed my date of birth and when I try and edit it on the website or app I just keep getting an error!

Help j’ai toujours utilisé Hostel World lors de tous mes voyages et cette appli sauf que dernièrement j’ai un téléphone trop ancien pour faire la nouvelle mise à jour et je n’ai plus accès à l’app… aidez-moi :(

Pire service client possible
Pire service client possible. J’ai réservé une chambre via Hostelworld avec un dépôt non remboursable. C’est l’hôtel lui-même qui a annulé ma réservation, pas moi — pourtant Hostelworld refuse de me rembourser, alors que je n’ai jamais demandé ni accepté cette annulation. J’ai contacté leur support plusieurs fois et je n’ai reçu que des réponses vagues et automatiques, sans aucune vraie prise en charge du problème. Dès qu’un souci survient, impossible de les joindre, aucune aide réelle. À éviter si vous voulez être protégé en cas de pépin avec votre réservation.

App is shocking
The website itself is fine for booking hostels but always check the hostel website itself as it is usually cheaper.
The other problem I have is with the app, it is very clunky but most of it you can work with. The one thing that makes absolutely no sense and makes me want to stop using the app is that there is no back button once you have gone to view a hostel in more details!! I mean this is just stupid!! You have to make the whole search again from the start!!

Mis representation
The app recommended a particular hostel to me, which I duly booked. I then checked the hostel rules to realise I fell outside of their age range. I immediately cancelled the booking. No refund given from the hostel (yes I took the no refund price). I feel however, the app knowing my age, should never have offered the hostel to me as their recommended one to book. I was in a hurry to book, so trusted their recommendation. Hostelworld and the hostel refused to refund the full amount paid.
