Chat feature such a scam
You should stick to just providing rooms, asking to pay for chat feature with other travellers is such a scam, before paying it showed 12 people active in Dominican republic. After paying it shows 12 people are interested and have wish list of dominican republic. Fooling customers, if you are so desperate for money simply ask for donations rather than scamming people.

One of the best apps out there
Makes booking hostels super easy and I’ve never had a problem in the years I’ve used this app. But the best part is it puts you in a group chat with people staying in your hostel as well as people staying the same city as you. You can post asking if anyone wants to do something with you, or reply to other people’s messages. It’s like making friends on easy mode. I even met a guy randomly who I had known 10 years ago when we were freshmen in college. On the other side of the world. Through this app. Highly recommend

Charged me $90 without my authorization for a so-called lifetime verification.
Unprofessional app bad customer service
The app does not work well and is full of glitches. I paid for a room which I later needed to change the dates for and there was no one available to help. I ran into a glitch that made my booking unavailable to me from my account. No matter how hard I try, all I can get are automated messages describing the typical cancel process which is not my issues. This complete failure to handle a customer issue for a mostly broken service is going to cost me over $200. This app/service is absolutely NOT worth it - go somewhere else before they get you too!!!

The latest update to this app is pure garbage. You click on a property to view it and there is no back button! You literally have to reboot your device to look at a different property. Insane. I used to love this app. I deleted it and will just use the website.

The best travel app ever
So easy and simple to use and love how you can access what other travels are staying at the hostle you have booked, I also love that it saves all your hostles in the past and shows other travellers what countries you have been to when using hostle world, it also lets you really customise your profile meaning other travellers can get a good idea of you , perfect if you are solo!!

Charged me twice for a single transaction and will not provide a refund, awful service! Stay clear.
Best app ever
I usually don’t do reviews but this app has geniunly saved me as a solo female traveller. It connected me with female only dorms that are cheap reputable and affordable and it made the payement process a peice of cake which helped me avoid unnecessary stress from price negotiations

Good but…
I’ve been using hostelworld for years, and up until now I would’ve gave it 5 stars. It works well for booking accommodation, lets you meet other travellers and has chats for the cities you visit. Tell me why I have to pay for that feature now? Just disappointing that everything requires a subscription nowadays.
