Was amazing, now AI slop :/
In the past, I used to love this app and used it to make incredible memories all over the world.
Then they did this horrible AI overhaul (probably just to fire developers in order to save on labor costs 🙄) and now it’s unusable.
They’ve leaned into the worst part of Couchsurfing culture (the toxic “dating app” side) and lost the side that made it amazing.
The platform had already been losing OG members and dying. Now its even worse… sadly cancelled my subscription since its not worth it.

Please stop tracking me
Along with every other confusing decision in this update, which I’ve already written about, please stop sending me a notification every time I go somewhere, I do not need or want to tell couchsurfers every time I take the bus to the next city over.
GGently-Used
Unwelcoming to Its Own Users
After its major redesign, Couchsurfing has drifted far away from what made it so loved in the first place. The app is now full of design bugs and, worst of all, has completely lost its smoothness and usability.
Couchsurfing is built on the spirit of hospitality, but ironically, the app itself has become an inefficient and unwelcoming host to its guests—its own users.

CHANGE THE OBVIOUS
Two glaring changes-
Viewing photos is horrendous now. Please make it so users can view an entire photo. And also please make it so we can sort via most recently active. And add a keyword search. Thanks!
