Love it, it's the best app to travel
Previous version wqs a lot better. But, I have met so much people. Kind, friendly, helpful, fun. An app for people that love travels and knowing different cultures around the world
New version made unusable
The new version of the app is such a bizarre change. It looks like the good people of couchsurfing wanted this app to be more like grindr/dice/discord/some internet dark room. Very hard to use and a shame for people that rely on this for emergency housing while traveling. Also gives off a very wrong vibe to make this look like a dating app when women/queer ppl were already trying not to get SA'd when using the original app. Do y'all not have any women on your team? Seriously how did this get past testing?
This app used to be people & community-centric but it's now almost impossible to use. Please at least make a light mode for users.

8/2026 Terrible update
Been using Couchsurfing for nearly a decade. This app update is horrible. Part of it’s beauty was the simplicity. Now it lags, it’s hard to find what you’re looking for and it just looks really ugly. Like a sketchy, dark club you get robbed in.
I used to love using the hangouts feature to easily meet up with people but the update makes it a bit hard and shows people that are really far away.
Go to the hostelworld app if you’re looking for the hangouts feature. So much better than Couchsurfing now.
Note to developers - Please go back to the simple, bright, and warm feeling vibe you used to have in the app. And keep it simple.

no place to stay
I have contacted host for many trips for a place to stay and everyone that says they can host is always traveling. I am in Florida and I could find no one on the coastal areas that could host anytime.
New version is really bad
The new version is just a joke. Not just how does it look like but how confusing it is! I have no clue why do I pay fee per year as it’s still want me to pay another money for…. plus to find people lately is almost impossible. One of the reasons? They are leaving this app
So disappointed with the new design
I’ve been a CS member for 20 yrs. unfortunately the new design has changed everything about the platform, and I personally think it’s now less user-friendly. I won’t be continuing my membership after it expires.

Terrible update. Used to be so much easier and more useful before
Infuriating redesign
No other way but to delete it. Used to be my fav app.
New and “improved” app is anything but improved
Their app used to be great but now it’s often an exercise in futility trying to use it. They’ve removed the calendar function so hosts can no longer block out unavailable dates. As a result, I regularly get requests for dates I’m out of town.
Additionally the app constantly informs me I have new messages when there aren’t any new ones there. I still have to check to ensure I don’t miss anything important.

It is not the same
Since the last big update this year 2026, the app is totally different and nothing really works as it did in the past. Useless for me so far. I used it a lot to host and stay, now it simply overcomplicated and difficult to use.
What happened?
I mean with all fairness the update is repulsive to me.There is shading blocking the photos, the messaging is lagging and generally the interface feels crammed making navigation a bit difficult.It is a shame because I have been using the app for years.The old app had its bugs yet it was so much better on all levels.Hope something is done soon!

App improvement failure
I never leave reviews on App Store… this app had a complete makeover and usually when an app does that, you see huge improvement. Here the only improvement was from a dull white background to a colored background. I don’t use the app to crash at people’s places just for the hangouts feature. Before it was better, now I think because it has become more private, many people don’t use it as much. I don’t like dropping a message into an inbox, before was better when you can request and other person could accept or decline. Now I think this app is just for gay men, because I keep getting strange messages in inbox and don’t see girls on here anymore. I met some good people on Cs in the past, people who remain friends until now… but it’s been some time since I had anything close to a positive experience while using this app.

A nova versão do app ficou bagunçada, com usabilidade ruim. Sem falar que agora trás eventos de fora da comunidade, que por vezes não tem a vibe de interação que tem na comunidade. Se não fosse apenas isso, os usuários pensam que virou um tinder. Definitivamente não é mais como antes, e não me sinto mais confortável com o uso.

I love this app but New UI is not good
Best app when it comes to travelling and I can’t imagine travelling without CS now but this new update version is not good.
Not very user friendly, very confusing AI and extra irrelevant features.

This new UX sucks!
As a long time user of CS, this revamp is very confusing and frustrating. It’s not as easy to navigate as it was. I tried opening people’s references and it took forever for the page to load. Seriously, please bring back the old CS!
For real travelers
This app is beautiful when it comes to finding true travelers around the world and connecting with wonderful locals. Unfortunately, there will always be those who tried to take advantage of something great and misuse as a dating app. Those people are to be reported and kicked off. Other than that, I am thankful for the creation of this app.

お金を払いアカウントを作り終えてプロフィールを編集していたらログインできなくなってしまった。メールアドレスへコードは送られてくるのにそれを入力してもログイン画面に戻ってきてしまう。
Só dá pra usar pagando :(
Uma tristeza terem feito isso, era um app incrível. Deveriam deixar funções pagas e outras gratuitas, isso só afasta o público.
