Not showing profile pics or my listing photos

App is not showing profile pics of sitters, my own profile pic nor my listing photos. I have upgraded to premium a while ago and it is asking me to upgrade still. No help from support

One year up front payment unexpected

I was keen to join as a sitter and was offered the option of a month to month amount which I thought was an option. When it came to payment 12 months had been deducted all at once off my bank account.

Hit and miss (mostly reliable)

I have been using the app for almost 2 years now and it ends up working (meaning I have found good cat sitters on three occasions), but the app has a critical flow. You cannot leave a negative review and even though I paid for the premium service to ensure I have a cat sitter and I am safe even if people cancel last minute, things are not straightforward. Half the times I tried to use the service, the people who confirmed the sit cancelled around 1 week before the sit which is something they are not dissuaded from doing as there don’t appear to be any visible consequences for them. People can’t really leave a negative review if you cancel shortly before a sit. That has left me in an extremely stressful situation so I don’t know why they offer a “premium” package. In theory if you end up paying for cat sitter through other means they can pay you the extra cost but that’s only in their discretion. Last but not least, if you read their forums you can see there are some people whose house was left in a mess so you have to be extra vigilant about who you put in your house

Connect

I enjoy connecting with other people and this a perfect way to do it. As a pet lover , I am not able to own a Piet right now . All experiences so far . Looking forward to many more memories

Great way to travel

I’ve been on THS 2 years now both as a sitter and as a pet owner. We have met so many wonderful people and pets, and traveled to some great places. Til now the app has been really fabulous- recently however its been acting a little glitchy, and I’ve had to use the web, which is more time consuming and different to use than what I’m used to. I hope the developers can figure out a way to make the needed security updates while still allowing users of slightly older phones to use the app(??) Thanks!

FAQ

What does the TrustedHousesitters app do?

The app connects pet owners with verified sitters who provide in-home pet care in exchange for a place to stay during their travels. Pet owners can find sitters for their cats, dogs, and other pets, ensuring peace of mind while they are away. Sitters can discover global opportunities to care for pets and explore new locations.

How does the pet sitting exchange work without money?

The core principle is trust and a swap of services. Pet owners offer their home and the company of their pets as accommodation for sitters. In return, sitters provide loving care for the pets. This model ensures that sitters are motivated by a genuine passion for animals, not just financial gain.

What are the costs associated with using TrustedHousesitters?

While no money changes hands between pet owners and sitters for the service itself, both parties need to choose a membership plan to gain access to the platform's features. These plans offer a year of unlimited access to arrange house sits or find sitters.

What kind of pets can be cared for through the app?

The app facilitates care for a wide variety of pets, including cats and dogs. Users can find sitters experienced with different types of animals, and the platform mentions opportunities for sitting with animals like alpacas and goldfish, indicating a broad scope of pet care.

What benefits do pet owners receive?

Pet owners benefit from having their pets cared for in their own familiar environment, which is generally less stressful for animals. They gain peace of mind knowing their pets are looked after by verified and experienced sitters. Additional benefits include a 24/7 vet advice line and a home and contents plan for added security.
