This is what every pet parent needs
I cannot rate this service high enough! I always struggled with pet sitting when we were going on holiday and this service solved that problem so efficiently that I cannot think now of a better way of going on holiday without worrying about my dogs! I have used the service several times now and every single time has been a seamless experience and all of the people who have stayed on my house have been lovely and caring!

Great concept but the website is dreadful to work on
We only ever use the site when we are desperate because it is so frustrating to work with, but we have usually had great people minding our house and pets.
I joined this site several years ago when we couldn’t get anyone we knew to mind our house. It was very expensive and after hours of frustration, was only half satisfied with the posting I’d managed to put up. I could only load a few photos. But we managed to get a great couple to mind our house and pets so all good.
About a year later we were going on a 3 week holiday to NZ and again couldn’t find anyone to housesit, so resorted to TrustedHousesitters. Again I spent several hours trying to update the original post. It was very frustrating. I’d make changes, click to publish the changes, but it would default to the original post. Although we had made some changes to the house, I couldn’t remove any of the old photos or post any new photos. I tried to upload photos of each room but gave up. This was a real problem as the sitter we found decided after a few days that our house wasn’t to her 5 star standard and left after three days. It placed us in a very distressing situation overseas spending the first days of our 3 week holiday having to find a house and dog sitter at a long distance, sight unseen. Then, the TrustedHousesitters administrator criticised us for not having enough photos of the house!
Despite that disaster, and despite the dreadful problems with navigating the site and updating details on the site, including still not being able to upload any recent photos to our profile, we have since used the site, but only when we have no other option.
If the website was more user friendly, we’d be a lot more likely to use it.

Help
There’s a virtual assistant. But try and get a hold of an actual person and it’s impossible. Customer Service does not seem to be a priority. So very frustrating. So if you use the service, just don’t expect a live person
No help when something goes wrong
When everything works and you get trustworthy pet sitters the app is great. However when something goes wrong and you need assistance in order to change sit dates when a sitter turns around and says they no longer want/need to stay in your home, there is nowhere to turn. No phone number, no email address. So now I have sitters who are going to leave mid sit and I can’t even get a new sitter in to fill their dates as the app won’t let me close the current sit or give me the option to get in touch with trusted house sitters to solve the issue.

Sadly, neglecting the basics…
I’ve been part of this community for almost a year, and the app has hardly improved in that time. I’m still waiting on basic features that have been lacking, particularly in searching and filtering sits which is the most essential part of the app (for Sitters). And secondly, there should be the ability to bookmark sits temporarily that you are interested in, not just favoriting which is for long-term interest. It is also too easy for owners to skip filling out essential portions of the Welcome Guide. Too much can slip through the cracks, which puts more work on the sitter’s shoulders.

Won’t subscribe again
I’ve advertised 2 sits and have had no response. Now I get to pay someone (twice) to sit after having paid Trusted Housesitter. Won’t subscribe again.
Expensive option for sitters offering Free Pet care!!
I’m more than happy to look after people’s animals without any payment because I genuinely love animals. However, I think it’s unfair to charge sitters a membership fee and then charge them again for every sit they apply for. Sitters do this out of a love of animals and to help owners, not so the platform can profit from them twice. That business model simply doesn’t feel right to me.

Expensive mistake
I purchased the Premium membership for around $200 because I believed it would be a good fit for my travel plans. Unfortunately, it never worked for my situation, and I ended up not using the service at all.
What has been most disappointing is the lack of customer support. I reached out to request a refund after realizing the membership wasn’t working for me, but I haven’t received a response. The cancellation and money-back policy felt misleading based on my experience.
For me, purchasing this membership was an expensive mistake.

Healing, Exploration, and New Friendships
TrustedHousesitters has been an incredible experience and a true gift during a major transition in my life. It gave me the opportunity to step away from an area where I no longer felt safe and explore beautiful communities throughout Massachusetts while having a comfortable place to stay.
One of the greatest surprises has been the wonderful relationships I’ve built with pet parents. They’ve been welcoming, kind, and trusting, and caring for their beloved pets has been genuinely therapeutic. The companionship, daily routines, and unconditional love from the animals have brought a sense of peace and joy that I didn’t realize I needed.
TrustedHousesitters has also helped me grow in confidence as a solo traveler. What started as local sits has inspired me to begin exploring other parts of the country, and eventually I hope to use TrustedHousesitters as I travel internationally.

Not showing profile pics or my listing photos
App is not showing profile pics of sitters, my own profile pic nor my listing photos. I have upgraded to premium a while ago and it is asking me to upgrade still. No help from support
One year up front payment unexpected
I was keen to join as a sitter and was offered the option of a month to month amount which I thought was an option. When it came to payment 12 months had been deducted all at once off my bank account.
Hit and miss (mostly reliable)
I have been using the app for almost 2 years now and it ends up working (meaning I have found good cat sitters on three occasions), but the app has a critical flow. You cannot leave a negative review and even though I paid for the premium service to ensure I have a cat sitter and I am safe even if people cancel last minute, things are not straightforward. Half the times I tried to use the service, the people who confirmed the sit cancelled around 1 week before the sit which is something they are not dissuaded from doing as there don’t appear to be any visible consequences for them. People can’t really leave a negative review if you cancel shortly before a sit. That has left me in an extremely stressful situation so I don’t know why they offer a “premium” package. In theory if you end up paying for cat sitter through other means they can pay you the extra cost but that’s only in their discretion. Last but not least, if you read their forums you can see there are some people whose house was left in a mess so you have to be extra vigilant about who you put in your house

Great way to travel
I’ve been on THS 2 years now both as a sitter and as a pet owner. We have met so many wonderful people and pets, and traveled to some great places. Til now the app has been really fabulous- recently however its been acting a little glitchy, and I’ve had to use the web, which is more time consuming and different to use than what I’m used to. I hope the developers can figure out a way to make the needed security updates while still allowing users of slightly older phones to use the app(??) Thanks!

Disappointed
So we were recommended this app and advertised on it well in advance expecting loads of interest for a 3 week rent free house. No one ! All support advised was change a photo. Their refund policy is 14 days ! Who leaves it 14 days before needing a sitter ! Waist of money ! Seems everyone just wants a free holiday !

House sitting
The worst house sitting site. I’ve been house sitting for 2 years very successfully. Of the 3 sites I use this one is the worst! And even though they aren’t nearly as good as other sites they are the most expensive! Very difficult to navigate the app and you can’t share your references. I am more successful on my other platforms and I won’t be renewing
