Incredible Platform

Once I discovered Trusted House Sitters app it offered me the opportunity to firstly support and do good for people who once doubted the ability to trust easily. This app has created a way for owners to feel safe having people like myself to take care of their homes and animals. It also teaches us to expand responsibility when taking care on animal family members which is therapeutic for the soul. I’m truly grateful for this app as it’s allowing me to travel more also. Honestly an incredible platform that is growing daily. I highly recommend it. I personally absolutely love it. 🤗🫶🏼🤗

Where's the trust?

Brilliant idea for what could be a great community. Works well until you encounter people who fail to abide by the golden rule. In good faith, you give them a great review despite the things on which they failed, but they give you a poor review for things they made up in their head. Enormous potential, Leadership needs to step up and create the culture it wants for the future or this ultimately will crumble as a

Site is terribly clunky and confusing

Definitely this site was designed by the C team. It’s time consuming not intuitive and hard to navigate and make changes.

Good service

Good app with good quality sitters.

Don’t recommend

This is an app with no live people that you can speak to and no way to resolve disputes. Best you will get is a generic AI chat bot that gives generic answers. Wasn’t impressed with the service and had not used it in a year. Didn’t realize they auto renew. After seeing the charge on the credit card I tried to cancel and receive a pro-rata refund. But, unless you cancel the one year renewal within 14 days of auto renewal (less than 4% of the way through the subscription) you are stuck paying the whole year. Also- note that they offer a large discount to keep you when you turn off auto renewal so even if you want to use the service, go to cancel and you will get a much better deal. I will not use or recommend them after the hassle of trying to work through this issue that most companies would assist you with. Zero customer support.

They can do better

My opinion, THS has been successful and enjoying their profits. Website is basic and needs improvement. You are a good website…not great. You can do better…find better leadership.

One of the best ways to travel

We love this app! It has allowed us to travel even more and meet amazing people and their pets. If you enjoy being with pets, you will love Trusted Housesitters!

Volunteering now costs too much!

I didn’t renew my membership as the new prices and the pay per sit on top of the membership means that I can’t afford now to sit for 2 or 3 days as I used to ( I can’t do more at a time) unless you pay top price, in which case the £10 extra per sit is included but you need to do a lot of sits per month to make it viable .
For something I do as a hobby as a volunteer, not for free holidays, not being paid is now costing a lot! Adding the transport it’s not sustainable anymore.
I am gutted as it was a really good site when people usually DO answer you and had some great sits!
WHAT A SHAME

Worth every penny!

Was recommended by a friend as I had a vacation coming up and no one to watch my dog, cats or house and it really was an amazing experience. I thought I would have problems finding someone for such a long sit with so many pets to take care of, and without much notice, but within the first 48 hours I had 5 people requesting my sit. The best part is the future peace of mind I have knowing I will always be able to find someone for any traveling I plan.

Why accessing background location??

Why is this app accessing location data in the background. You have no legitimate reason for this and so you are in breach of Apples guidelines

Love Trusted Housesitters

THS has given me the confidence to travel the world. So far we’ve done pet-sits across the USA, from Hawaii to Florida. Someday I hope to take a trip to Japan, Italy, Australia and Thailand via THS.

I love that wherever I decide to go, I know they’ll be a 4 legged friend on the other side waiting to hangout me.

Zero stars!

I found this site to be wildly misleading. It should be called “Free Place to Stay” rather than “Trusted House Sitters”—especially if you happen to live in a desirable area.

I created a profile with high hopes, but got absolutely no real interest until after I requested a refund. Within the first week, it was already clear I was going to have to find another solution.

The only responses I received were concerning, to say the least. One man wanted to haggle over his stay so he could arrive three days before my trip while my family was still living in the home. When I declined, he simply moved on to another homeowner who could better fit his schedule. Another applicant claimed they could get from California to Snohomish within 48 hours, which did not exactly inspire confidence when I was looking for someone trustworthy to care for my home and loved one.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for a refund when I canceled within the first week because the service was nowhere near what it advertised. Instead, my request was denied, leaving me stuck paying for a subscription I will never use again.

In the end, we had to hire a private house sitter just to make sure we had someone we actually trusted. That completely defeats the entire purpose of joining this platform in the first place.

My experience was frustrating, disappointing, and frankly a waste of time and money. I would not recommend this service based on my experience.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry for the stress and frustration you experienced trying to find a sitter for your trip. While refund eligibility is outlined in our Terms of Service, we acknowledge your disappointment with this outcome. We wish you the best moving forward.

Payment should go to the sitter

As the pet sitter, this is a horrible abusive arrangement. Don’t fall into the trap.

- The app is not reliable for the pets and house. The sitter is if anything goes wrong. Imagine there is a break in or emergency. Who has to take care of the pet?
- You can’t cancel your bookings.
- It’s hard to establish trust.
- There are expectations placed on you as a pet sitter.

Because of the amount of work that needs to be put in to pet sit, why is the app receiving the membership fee and the pet sitters receive nothing? After the stress from the expectations I paid to have placed on me, I feel like this app is doing the easy work and reaping all the benefits. I will not be using this app again.

I highly suggest pet sitters seek compensation, and avoid using this app.

Ps in case you did not know, pet sitters pay a fee for whatever bonuses. I don’t remember what. So do the house owners. So instead of the pet sitters taking the pay, the app sits back and takes the pay just to connect you with people. It’s a very bad arrangement for pet sitters.

Let pet owners feel your absence and understand that your reliability and dedication should not be taken for granted. They should seek you through paid jobs, not through this app.

Glad we joined !

We’ve been using TrustedHousesitters as both pet parents and pet sitters, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made.

As pet parents, the biggest benefit is that our dog, Ava, gets to stay in her own home where she’s relaxed, happy, and able to keep her normal routine. There’s no stress of kennels, and we have peace of mind knowing she’s being cared for by genuine animal lovers.

As sitters, we’ve had the privilege of caring for wonderful pets in beautiful homes and, along the way, we’ve made so many lifelong friends. The sense of trust and community is something really special.

If you love animals and want the best for your pets while you’re away or you’re looking for a rewarding way to travel and care for pets we couldn’t recommend TrustedHousesitters more highly.

Easy as

This App is so easy to use. Critically it has and provides all the right information for the sitter and the pet owner to chose the best option for the beautiful pet/s. Because they deserve the best experience.

This is what every pet parent needs

I cannot rate this service high enough! I always struggled with pet sitting when we were going on holiday and this service solved that problem so efficiently that I cannot think now of a better way of going on holiday without worrying about my dogs! I have used the service several times now and every single time has been a seamless experience and all of the people who have stayed on my house have been lovely and caring!

Great concept but the website is dreadful to work on

We only ever use the site when we are desperate because it is so frustrating to work with, but we have usually had great people minding our house and pets.

I joined this site several years ago when we couldn’t get anyone we knew to mind our house. It was very expensive and after hours of frustration, was only half satisfied with the posting I’d managed to put up. I could only load a few photos. But we managed to get a great couple to mind our house and pets so all good.

About a year later we were going on a 3 week holiday to NZ and again couldn’t find anyone to housesit, so resorted to TrustedHousesitters. Again I spent several hours trying to update the original post. It was very frustrating. I’d make changes, click to publish the changes, but it would default to the original post. Although we had made some changes to the house, I couldn’t remove any of the old photos or post any new photos. I tried to upload photos of each room but gave up. This was a real problem as the sitter we found decided after a few days that our house wasn’t to her 5 star standard and left after three days. It placed us in a very distressing situation overseas spending the first days of our 3 week holiday having to find a house and dog sitter at a long distance, sight unseen. Then, the TrustedHousesitters administrator criticised us for not having enough photos of the house!

Despite that disaster, and despite the dreadful problems with navigating the site and updating details on the site, including still not being able to upload any recent photos to our profile, we have since used the site, but only when we have no other option.

If the website was more user friendly, we’d be a lot more likely to use it.

Help

There’s a virtual assistant. But try and get a hold of an actual person and it’s impossible. Customer Service does not seem to be a priority. So very frustrating. So if you use the service, just don’t expect a live person

No help when something goes wrong

When everything works and you get trustworthy pet sitters the app is great. However when something goes wrong and you need assistance in order to change sit dates when a sitter turns around and says they no longer want/need to stay in your home, there is nowhere to turn. No phone number, no email address. So now I have sitters who are going to leave mid sit and I can’t even get a new sitter in to fill their dates as the app won’t let me close the current sit or give me the option to get in touch with trusted house sitters to solve the issue.

Sadly, neglecting the basics…

I’ve been part of this community for almost a year, and the app has hardly improved in that time. I’m still waiting on basic features that have been lacking, particularly in searching and filtering sits which is the most essential part of the app (for Sitters). And secondly, there should be the ability to bookmark sits temporarily that you are interested in, not just favoriting which is for long-term interest. It is also too easy for owners to skip filling out essential portions of the Welcome Guide. Too much can slip through the cracks, which puts more work on the sitter’s shoulders.
