Incredible Platform
Where's the trust?
Site is terribly clunky and confusing
Good service
Don’t recommend
They can do better
One of the best ways to travel
Volunteering now costs too much!
For something I do as a hobby as a volunteer, not for free holidays, not being paid is now costing a lot! Adding the transport it’s not sustainable anymore.
I am gutted as it was a really good site when people usually DO answer you and had some great sits!
WHAT A SHAME
Worth every penny!
Why accessing background location??
Love Trusted Housesitters
I love that wherever I decide to go, I know they’ll be a 4 legged friend on the other side waiting to hangout me.
Zero stars!
I created a profile with high hopes, but got absolutely no real interest until after I requested a refund. Within the first week, it was already clear I was going to have to find another solution.
The only responses I received were concerning, to say the least. One man wanted to haggle over his stay so he could arrive three days before my trip while my family was still living in the home. When I declined, he simply moved on to another homeowner who could better fit his schedule. Another applicant claimed they could get from California to Snohomish within 48 hours, which did not exactly inspire confidence when I was looking for someone trustworthy to care for my home and loved one.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for a refund when I canceled within the first week because the service was nowhere near what it advertised. Instead, my request was denied, leaving me stuck paying for a subscription I will never use again.
In the end, we had to hire a private house sitter just to make sure we had someone we actually trusted. That completely defeats the entire purpose of joining this platform in the first place.
My experience was frustrating, disappointing, and frankly a waste of time and money. I would not recommend this service based on my experience.
Response from developer
Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry for the stress and frustration you experienced trying to find a sitter for your trip. While refund eligibility is outlined in our Terms of Service, we acknowledge your disappointment with this outcome. We wish you the best moving forward.
Payment should go to the sitter
- The app is not reliable for the pets and house. The sitter is if anything goes wrong. Imagine there is a break in or emergency. Who has to take care of the pet?
- You can’t cancel your bookings.
- It’s hard to establish trust.
- There are expectations placed on you as a pet sitter.
Because of the amount of work that needs to be put in to pet sit, why is the app receiving the membership fee and the pet sitters receive nothing? After the stress from the expectations I paid to have placed on me, I feel like this app is doing the easy work and reaping all the benefits. I will not be using this app again.
I highly suggest pet sitters seek compensation, and avoid using this app.
Ps in case you did not know, pet sitters pay a fee for whatever bonuses. I don’t remember what. So do the house owners. So instead of the pet sitters taking the pay, the app sits back and takes the pay just to connect you with people. It’s a very bad arrangement for pet sitters.
Let pet owners feel your absence and understand that your reliability and dedication should not be taken for granted. They should seek you through paid jobs, not through this app.
Glad we joined !
As pet parents, the biggest benefit is that our dog, Ava, gets to stay in her own home where she’s relaxed, happy, and able to keep her normal routine. There’s no stress of kennels, and we have peace of mind knowing she’s being cared for by genuine animal lovers.
As sitters, we’ve had the privilege of caring for wonderful pets in beautiful homes and, along the way, we’ve made so many lifelong friends. The sense of trust and community is something really special.
If you love animals and want the best for your pets while you’re away or you’re looking for a rewarding way to travel and care for pets we couldn’t recommend TrustedHousesitters more highly.

This is what every pet parent needs
Great concept but the website is dreadful to work on
I joined this site several years ago when we couldn’t get anyone we knew to mind our house. It was very expensive and after hours of frustration, was only half satisfied with the posting I’d managed to put up. I could only load a few photos. But we managed to get a great couple to mind our house and pets so all good.
About a year later we were going on a 3 week holiday to NZ and again couldn’t find anyone to housesit, so resorted to TrustedHousesitters. Again I spent several hours trying to update the original post. It was very frustrating. I’d make changes, click to publish the changes, but it would default to the original post. Although we had made some changes to the house, I couldn’t remove any of the old photos or post any new photos. I tried to upload photos of each room but gave up. This was a real problem as the sitter we found decided after a few days that our house wasn’t to her 5 star standard and left after three days. It placed us in a very distressing situation overseas spending the first days of our 3 week holiday having to find a house and dog sitter at a long distance, sight unseen. Then, the TrustedHousesitters administrator criticised us for not having enough photos of the house!
Despite that disaster, and despite the dreadful problems with navigating the site and updating details on the site, including still not being able to upload any recent photos to our profile, we have since used the site, but only when we have no other option.
If the website was more user friendly, we’d be a lot more likely to use it.
