Walking Charlie
I think the app is fantastic. It’s easy to work with. It’s fun and it definitely makes the dog owner feel comfortable and insecure with the service.
Embarrassing Support. DO NOT GET THIS APP.
I have been a Wag! Caregiver for over 4 years now— it has been my main source of income in-between jobs. I am a five-star Caregiver (I have never recieved less than a five star review) and have over 50 badges in the app as a recent college graduate. I was just recently fined $270 for “conspiring to take clients off-app” when I dealt with an older woman that preferred we text privately for the boarding of her puppy. If I do not pay, my account is on hold from new services indefinitely. This is genuinely ridiculous and even following an email to support, they don’t seem to care about the misunderstanding.
I had seen the issues about support and price gouging walkers in the past, but I have never had any problems until now. DO NOT GET THIS APP. Genuinely any other caregiving app is better than this one. The people behind this service only care about money— not pets, and certainly not people.

Run by the greediest people
The people who run wag are completely exploitative of young college aged students who are trying to make money. They take FORTY percent of your earnings which is absolutely insane, and on top of that it’s impossible to get clients because they have sitters having to fight over clients instead of the clients just choosing which sitter they want. I have been on Wag and Rover for 2 months and I have made over 3K from Rover and have had probably around 25 clients. In that same amount of time I have made like $200 from Wag and only have TWO clients. One of my clients found out how much money wag takes from sitters and the crazy amount they charge owners and she suggested we share numbers so she can pay less over Venmo instead and it would also give me MORE money. Literally a few days later I get a notice saying my account is suspended because I brought a customer away from the wag platform. Absolutely insane. I mean it’s not like I was making anything anyway, but genuinely it is sooo exploitative and Rover has never done anything like that to me. I make so much more money on Rover and if people want to pay on Venmo they can.

Hard to tell if you’re about to be scammed.
For the most part, they are good actual jobs. But there are so so many that are fake.
Horrible for pet sitters
I’ve heard great things about this app in terms of pet owner’s experience, but as a pet sitter using this app, my experience has been awful. First off, there is zero way to communicate with a pet parent beforehand, which makes zero sense. You would have to first book it, THEN talk with them, leading to pressure for a pet sitter to either accept the booking that wasn’t fully understood or take a hit to their ratings. Wag seems to only care about their customers and profit, not about the pet sitters they contract. Also, $40 to sign up as a pet caregiver is ridiculous, especially considering how much they take out of what the caregiver gets. 2 stars since I’ve heard great experiences on the owners side, but CAREGIVERS STAY AWAY!!!
