User reviews

Great content, however…

Having issues with the content loading (it does not), running iOS 26 on iPad and iPhone. Not sure of the issue, don’t have problems with other apps.

Love it, incredible resource.

I started training in karate in the 1980s but it’s only in recent years that I’ve become aware of Iain Abernethy, and his approach to kata application. This app has really opened my eyes and got me rethinking my understanding of karate. The app is an absolutely fantastic resource for practical kata application and much more. I wish it had been available when I started, or at least the training methods described in the app, been more widely practiced.

The perfect way to learn how to actually apply your karate

Both this app and Iain’s overall approach are perfect for the martial arts practitioner who wants to functionalise their training and make sure that they can actually pull off the techniques in a real life context. From applications to impact drills to concepts this is the best way I’ve seen to make Karate functional again.

Superb content

This app has amazing content for anyone looking at the practical application of a kata.If you only ever seen them at stupid dances in a weird looking pajamas, then this is something that you really need to take a look at. If you love kata, this is definitely the app for you. If you want to learn more about karate’s application in real self-defense, this is an app for you. Iain’s insight is nothing short of profound. Being able to see new content so often has expanded my horizons as a student and teacher.
