Youzhi is a slow-paced, local-first virtual companion app for sharing quiet everyday moments with Xiaoqi.
Xiaoqi waits on the “Screen Shore” until you choose to visit. Reply with a line, sit together in silence, take a simple timed walk, or show Xiaoqi a photo you selected. There are no login streaks and no penalty for being away.
Fourteen core encounters unfold at most once per local calendar day. Miss a few days and the story continues from where you left it. Alongside them, 28 small daily rituals rotate with the date, bringing a different gentle interaction to each day.
In the Reality Window, choose one image through Apple’s system photo picker and bring Xiaoqi into it. Move, resize, and rotate Xiaoqi, then combine three poses with three decorations. All editing happens on your device, and the original image in your photo library is never changed.
Photo understanding is limited to an allowlist of broad themes such as rain, greenery, sky, indoors, meals, desks, streetlights, handmade objects, and night. Youzhi does not identify faces or infer identity, age, gender, relationships, emotion, or physical or mental health. Only themes you confirm after choosing to save a photo may gently shape six companion traits. Those traits affect dialogue, interaction suggestions, and motion rhythm—not Xiaoqi’s core appearance. Theme evidence can be corrected, removed, recalculated, or cleared at any time.
For every photo, you decide whether to keep a new metadata-stripped copy for Xiaoqi or use it only for the current session. Keepsakes can be deleted one by one. You can also export a local JSON file or erase all app data.
There is no account, advertising, analytics SDK, developer server, subscription, or in-app purchase. Photos, keepsakes, and app state remain inside the app’s local device storage unless you explicitly export and share them.
The interface can be switched between Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese.
