Cool… But Problem Using a SIRT

This is a nice, basic dryfire tool. However, when using a SIRT’s take-up laser, it counts it as a shot. I’m not surprised but it kind of negates the purpose of using that function of the SIRT while using this app. That is, unless I’m missing some sort of setting that I don’t know about 🤷🏼‍♂️

Simple and awesome

Stuck five black dots on an off-white, eggshell wall with normal interior lighting. Worked brilliantly from the getgo. Had the camera about six feet away from the target (on a counter a couple feet to the right), hit Start, walked to the other end of the hall (~30 feet) and fired away. Super Cool. No idea what the bad reviews are about. And this is using an old iPhone SE, hardly state of the art. We’ll see how it translates to the range but this is pretty fun. Lasers are cool and a LOT less expensive than rounds at the moment. Just gotta git me one of them 200w laser bazookas. ;-) The app is well worth the money.

Feature request: let the user define the center of the target and how far away other parts of the target are (in my case four dots up/down/R/L from center dot). Would let the app do basic shot analysis... eg how many shots were x inches away, do you consistently pull your first shot, etc

Also, have different colors for each shot. Make it easier to see at a glance where your first, 2nd, 3rd, etc shot placed.

Review

I downloaded it and hit start.
The thing is recording several shots like a demo. It ignores my shots entirely

Quality tool

This app performs exactly as described. Drop any laser cartridge in the chamber. Put your phone on a tripod and point it at a spot on the wall. Push start and draw at the buzzer. Dry fire isn’t fun, but it’s hugely beneficial. This app makes it more productive.

Records shots I am not making

I downloaded this app on 4/15/2020. I also just purchased a SIRT and targeting system from iDryfire. I purchased these to enhance my own shooting and that of my firearms students.

Both the App and Computer software records shots that I am not taking. Example: I am standing out of view of the camera, it starts, the. Before I move, “bang, bang, bang, bang” and shots showing on screen. I never pulled the trigger. When I do shoot, I shoot twice and it records several more shots.

Also, I like many others, do not live or train in outer space. Being told “your background is to light” by the app developers or novice shooters who bought this as a game is laughable. I am a former US Army Special Forces operator who is now a full time firearms instructor. This is not a useful training tool if it requires specific studio settings or a dark room. I should not have to find a room with black painted walls and turn off all the lights for this to work properly, especially for $13.00 USD and especially after paying $375 for the iDryfire gun and laser targeting system. The inability of this app to function in normal settings should be advertised.

One last thing, how about some feedback other than “update and consider changing your review”

I’m happy with it.

I decided to go out on a limb and purchase this software. If used others, and so far this is the one I enjoy most. I wish there was an option to zoom, so my smaller dryfire targets can fill more of the screen. I’m curious what the red lines represent that are attached to the impact marks from the laser.

Update: the red lines from point of impact represent muzzle movement after the shot. I’m still using this app frequently and am finding it to be the best out there. Very reliable.

I like this app!

Simple interface and operation. Point iPad at wall / target, press “start” and a buzzer sounds. Begin shooting with laser device. Shots register on screen with a ka-chung. After firing-set view screen to see group(s). Review each individual shot by tapping screen. Shot count and time are displayed sequentially for reference. Makes it easy to work on shooting basics without spending money on ammo. I like this app!

Adjustable lead-in time, firing-set time, and goal number for shots. Can also save “target” results to iPad Photos. Have used thrice, so don’t yet know if any other features exist.

For $10 and ease of use, it seems to be a worthwhile companion to, say, a SIRT pistol or AR bolt.

The Easiest way to practice

Very simple and easy to set up. Records shots and time. Offers discounts on the dry fire practicing products. Like it a lot.

Works but lacking

Just downloaded thinking there was going to be a little more to this app over other free ones. You have to go to the phone to initiate a new round which is a hassle. Also you have to change your phone settings to keep your screen on the app does not do that for you. If this would have had a free trial that lasted 15 minutes I would have not spent the 10 dollars on the app and would have kept using free Hitlaser instead.

Easy tool to practice dry firing anywhere

I found this app very intuitive to use and that the previous reviews have been solved with this new update.

Great app for tracking your dry fire practice!

Easy to setup and use, and really helpful to where i actually shoot!

Works great but doesn’t save to photos when I press the button.

Like everything about this app -easy to setup and use. Works great for one round of shots. However it doesn’t save your round when you hit the save to Photos option. Would be great is it did save and automatically initiate the next round.

Works great!

Picks up hits at speed which is great for training.

Waste of precious dryfire time

The app rarely works as advertised. The sound constantly goes out. The is some kind of distortion all over the screen and I can't stand more than a yard away from the target and get it to pick up the laser. I'm using their laser cartridge with fresh batteries too. This app is too expensive to be this worthless!

Great Alternative to Other Expensive Apps

Really great and fully functional alternative to the other more expensive apps out here.

One suggestion - a spot on the screen to shoot to restart the delay/timer. It's a huge hassle to move over to the iPad and touch the screen each time I want to drill.

Solid, Could Be Amazing

UPDATE: Well, the developer listened and made fast updates to the requests in my original review (below). Thanks very much! This app makes dry firing far less tedious. It's a great value and a great motivator.

Very good! Works well as is, even in a fairly bright room with white wall as background. It gives good visual feedback for splits.
Some recommendations:
-Allow adjustable start time. Currently it's predictable and limits setup for complex starts. ***FIXED!***
-Allow camera to go horizontal for wider target arrays. ***FIXED!***
-Half second adjustments are too broad, allow for manual time entry.
Strong app as is, but could be amazing.

Updates have improved the usefulness

I have had this app from the beginning and every update has improved the usefulness of this app. It is well worth the money spent. Has no problem picking up the laser from my SIRT and is great at showing split and draw times so that dryfire can be used to work on any skill the user wants. I would like the ability to have multiple strings recorded (without touching the phone/tablet) and it would be sweet if we could outline "targets" so that we could score hits, but I'm sure those features will come later.

New version works great!

I purchased the app a few weeks ago and was very disappointed with it. I saw there was a new version today and tested it. It consistently detected the laser and works in a much wider range of lighting conditions. Highly recommend this app now. - update 2017/7/16: guess developer did not full read my review or rating. I had given it a 5 star review and had said updated version was "highly recommended". Was ask to reconsider review recently.... why?

NOT WORKING PROPERLY

GOOD IDEA BUT WITH THE IPAD IT WILL NOT ALLOW TO SAVE THE IMAGES WHEN YOU HIT TO SAVE IT WILL CLOSE THE APPLICATION, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WITH THE IPHONE. I NEED IT TO WORK WITH THE IPAD PLEASE FIX IT OR REFUND MY $10.00 BUCKS. THANK GOD I USED AMEX.

Works great

The portability is great. Tack a B27 on the wall, then point and shoot. I use a sirt laser pistol. 500 shots later, not one prob. I wish you could choose a laser color (green) that would not be recognized. That way you could practice with laser sights...
