Great local data, but needs customizable alerts and lightning proximity tracking
I really appreciate having dedicated Indiana forecasting, community reports, and reliable NWS data all in one place. The core forecasts and radar look clean, but the current alert system is holding the app back. Right now, there’s only a single master toggle for alerts, which can lead to notification fatigue from minor advisories when what I really need are urgent warnings.
Adding more granular alert customization would instantly make a subscription much more worthwhile. Custom Proximity Lightning Alerts: A distance slider (for example, alert me when lightning strikes within 5, 10, or 15 miles of my location). Knowing that lightning has struck just a few miles away can be vital for safety, even before the rain arrives. Granular Alert Toggles: Separate critical warnings (Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood) from less urgent advisories (Heat, Wind, Fog), allowing users to choose exactly which alerts they receive. Precipitation Timing Notifications: Quick, hyper-local notifications letting me know when rain is estimated to start or stop at my location. iOS Lock Screen / Dynamic Island Support: Live rain timers or lightning indicators that provide useful information at a glance without having to open the app.
The team has built a solid foundation for Hoosier weather. Focusing more on actionable, customizable everyday safety alerts—not just niche radar tools—would easily make this a 5-star app for me and make a paid upgrade a no-brainer.
