Harder than it should be to use

When trying to print a photo, after selecting a photo, any time you touch it (with two fingers or one) to adjust the crop, it tries to open the photo library again and delete any changes you have made. This could be a simple fix in the code, there is no reason clicking on the image needs to open the photo library, there is already another (more intuitive) way to accomplish that.

Works well

The app does just about everything you’d want it to. It connects to the instax square link, prints photos, tells you the charge level of the battery, and how much film remains. The quick print UI previously had some bugs but is a lot smoother now so I’ve updated my review to 5 stars. I have printed hundreds of photos on mine and would absolutely buy another one of these if something were to go wrong with it.

Wont connect to Bluetooth

After trying multiple phones and troubleshooting every scenario to printer won’t connect to my Bluetooth so renders the whole thing useless. Absolute waste of money.

Love it

Haven’t had the app for long and hoping there is an update coming soon…
Just realised that there’s an instax camera on it and no need to have an actual camera…good one…I love the printer- Square link

No able to link my photos

The app is asking for access to my phone’s photo library, I allowed it but still not working the app in connecting my photos. I bought the instax square printer just to use this app because I saw great reviews in youtube but my this app seems has an issue with my iphone iOS version 18.2. If this is not working, I will have to return my instax square printer.

Crashes every time

Cannot seem to use a photo from my camera roll. Instant crash.

Too many bugs!

Love the photos and the printer, but there are so many bugs. It keeps asking me to choose a photo after I drag or tap on the photo that I selected. Dragging or zooming the photo also over drags or zoom than where I stopped the pinch or tap.

Please show the photo dates and year so I know which period they are from!!

Beyond slow and arduous to select photos

Have been very eager to use this printer to print family photos for my kids albums. Unfortunately it’s taken me 1.5hrs to print 2 instax square photos because of the app. I have the setting allowing all photos (so I don’t have to select one by one), though the app takes forever (or even never) to load albums so you can then wait … again… to select your photo.

I just want a quick select and print process.
I love that there is a feature that remembers all your recent prints, though I printed one photo from my Photos App and sent the photo to open the Square Instax app - and this route is faster for printing though it does not keep the memory of printing it.

For today day in age - I definitely expect this app, for such a huge company, to be better developed and streamlined.

Basic functionality is bad

There are many negatives to this app. Asks for a bunch of permissions it doesn't need, for me to accept T&Cs and which servers to connect to (when I'm not using any functionality that requires a server). All up front before I can use the main function of the app. Every time I open the app it asks for full photos access (which it doesn't need). If I pick a live photo it uses the video from it and there's no way to select the still image for it. The image adjusting controls are clunky and imprecise. The prints do not match the colours of the source image with the default settings. No matter what levels I choose for brightness, contrast and saturation the prints are always noticeably yellow. The device the app connects to is clearly not calibrated well. The prints are always noticeably blurry as well so the dpi of the printer must not be adequate to make a good image. Considering the price of the printer device it's shocking how clunky the app is. It's needlessly complex to navigate and the UI is crowded with a bunch of connected features that have nothing to do with printing photos from your phone's album.

Not able to add more photos

If you only allow limited access to your photo library I haven’t found any way to add more photos after the fact

From "SQUARE Link development team" Please follow below steps. (1) Remove the application from the task. (2) Open the"SQUARE Link" app. (3) Tap “OK” on the dialog box that appears. (4) Select [Photos]-[Limited Access]. (5) Tap "Edit Selected Photos"" and select the photos you need.

(1) Restart the smartphone. (2) Charge mini Link printer battery to full. (3) Turn off Bluetooth on the smartphone and then turn it on. (4) Unpair the connected mini Link and reconnect it.

Some minor UI bugs but works well

The app does just about everything you’d want it to. It connects to the instax square printer, prints photos, tells you the charge level of the battery, and how much film remains. The quick print UI is pretty atrocious though. It’s unnecessarily difficult to line up an image in the square. 80% of the time, when I try to adjust the image I’ve already selected, it takes me to the image selection screen. Overall I am still happy with the product and the app.

Fun app but can be better

This is a fun app. Easy to use however the AR functionality could be better.. ie enable user to only scan QR code to view them rather than getting people to download the app. It does not make sense for people that do not have the printer to download the app..

“Could not establish a connection with the device.

Try search and connect again (1010).” This app worked with the square printer once like magic. But then no combination of forgetting bluetooth device, restarting, off/on, plugged in, unplugged, searching, closing and reopening, button pressing will get anything other than the message above. What is the trick as search gives this error? iOS17.0.3

Terrible loading time

To load a photo for print takes several minutes. The app just freezes and won’t even load the photo album for at least 3 mins- so imagine trying to load several photos for print one after another! Not even close to being efficient if using for an event, we had a line of customers and not even half received their photos because they couldn’t be bothered to wait.

User-friendly but has some flaws

It’s a fun app to use and makes the printing process easy. However the AR print function does not seem to be working as when the QR code is scanned, it takes the user to the app home page rather than the actual AR print. It would be amazing if this could be fixed ASAP!

Doesn’t handle large iOS 16 libraries well

As with other Fuji apps this is quite terrible in its current version. It does not load images from the photos library smoothly - so the process of selecting one image to print takes several minutes and severe lag between steps. At least this one does load the library at all - but it’s a very poor experience.
