IO-INSPECTOR is an independent third-party tool for commissioning and functional testing in industrial automation environments. With your iPad or iPhone you can observe, document and - if approved, technically permissible and safety-compliant - switch/control signals on site. Less shouting in the workshop, less manual checking and more clarity right where the work takes place.
WHY IO-INSPECTOR?
• Project and variable import (for TIA Portal® projects): Import variable lists from common export formats (e.g. .xlsx or .csv). IO-INSPECTOR adopts the structure, data types and comments from the file provided - manual re-entry is not necessary.
• HMI View Smart Connector: Quickly connect to your system and conveniently access information relevant to commissioning. The Smart Connector is intended to simplify connection and access to the required displays/views in practice - without having to imply an official manufacturer affiliation.
• Fast system connection: Detect and connect devices in the local network quickly and clearly.
• Live status and targeted control (OPC UA): Connect to compatible controllers via OPC UA and check signals in real time.
• Observe: Track changes immediately. OPC is also accessible via the WebSocket protocol.
• Control: Set outputs or markers specifically (Force/Modify), provided this is activated in the environment and meets the safety requirements.
• Diagnostics: Identify problems more quickly, such as cabling or logic problems.
• Digital documentation (PDF): Check off test steps digitally, add notes (e.g. “Sensor defective”, “Adjustment required”) and export a PDF report with your company logo and timestamp.
• Filter and search: Filter by status (“Open”, “Done”) or search directly by symbol name.
• Mark changes (round-trip support): Mark typos or name adjustments in the app so that you can later apply them in your engineering project in a controlled manner.
• Share and collaborate on projects: Share projects so colleagues can continue with the same project status - including testing status and documentation progress (depending on the sharing/export method chosen).
TECHNICAL NOTES/REQUIREMENTS
• Compatibility: Developed for environments with SIMATIC® S7-1200 (FW 4.0+) and SIMATIC® S7-1500.
• OPC UA: OPC UA must be activated on the CPU. Basic access may not require an additional license depending on your configuration; Actual requirements depend on device, firmware and project configuration.
• Signals: Supports digital and analog signals (depending on project/export data and target system).
• Network/Offline: Use in the machine's local WLAN; Project-related features can also be available without the Internet (depending on the scope of functions).
