Beyond impressed!
iRhino3D is fantastic for quickly mapping spaces as a starting point for 3D modeling or creating a floor plan. This is so huge and integrates smoothly with Rhino for desktop. This app is so much more than a simple 3D viewer and I think McNeel nailed it.
Ok niche use tool but why not real Rhino
With the power of IPads on par with their desktop/laptop versions, it’s just stupid we can’t have a real version of Rhino on the iPad or at least the Ipad Pro/Air. I’ve been suffering through remote desktop solutions to run Rhino for long enough. Give us a real native full blown Rhino + Grasshopper. The developer has responded to ask which tools but I think that was crystal clear in not my title and review. My iPad is more powerful in CPU and RAM than my desktop. I would like to see all of base Rhino on the iPad. I appreciate plugins might be a minefield and in turn grasshopper might be a struggle but now we have real mouse support, full base rhino should be the goal and not this annoying, pointless viewer app.

Great app - perfect for viewing model and doing quick sketches and mark ups.

I’ve never written a review before. This app is so good I’ve got to tell you. Best thing ever for mobile viewing of 3D models.
Good option to do simple task
As an educator, this app it’s really functional to show the students alternative ways to capture a space, an object and then, transfer the information to Rhino.
Real good for entertainment
I use it as a way to create at home without having the need for a computer
Couldn’t create anything
The app looked nicely polished and very clean but I found it annoying and difficult to actually create designs, I will keep trying but so far it isn’t looking like an excess able or useful app. Also they do not have 5 star reviews so it’s seeming dodgy that on their app and the App Store that is says that

Not anymore I really enjoyed using it now I have to use another scan app - I can’t export how I need it.

Inaccurate
The desktop version of rhino is great. The rhino app can significantly mismeasure outdoor structures like a deck when using lidar.

Great app that scans really well but there doesn't see to be a way to add rooms to a scan yove already done and saved which is a major let down because the app crashes when doing gil home scans so it would be nice to be able to save progress and continue instead of loosing the whole scan when the app crashes and having to start over

Inaccurate
The desktop version of rhino is great. The rhino app massively overestimates distances by lidar - almost twice the actual distances.

Lidar accuracy depends on many factors, but shouldn't be that far off. Are you seeing this discrepancy while scanning a room or an object? We can better assist you if you get in touch via tech@mcneel.com

Currently the app could do with a lot of improvements, but it has a solid base and there is a lot of potential for development

I’ve been following versions and can see improvements compared to the last. Now you can drag, I think the gumball will be needed soon so you can rotate and scale an object easily.
Being able to dimension between points would also be useful.
I think keeping this as a viewer with the VR tricks and annotation is the direction to take it.
I also notice the roomscan current omits the doors and windows, whereas a pure usdz file created by apple’s room scan would have these as objects. It would be better to retain these objects as geom even if they’re on a layer that’s turned off.

Love it, but
Bounding box is great for capturing small objects. For some reason the current version of the app is not letting me save anything. Error message that I need to get the updated version! I have latest and running IOS18 in 13 Pro Max
Nice but id actually like to do some work in here
I own rhino but sometimes i just need to do some simple dimensionally accurate drawings. Im not doing much that requires the extra setup time for parametrics and polygonal modelers ate not the right tool. Those two cad types seem to be the only things available on ios. It seems to me if mcneel would just create a simple version of rhino that you could actually design a deck or a staircase with and measure corner to corner or modify a design in field and then be able to use that in rhino desktop for grasshopper or whatever, it would be filling a niece that doesnt exist. I just need some serious non parametric cad on my phone for simple things and everything i see is either for animation, rendering, parametric, or just a viewer for things like rhino or autocad. I just wanna draw lines arcs curves points, maybe intersect or trim surfaces, trim offset snap to intersections dimension id 3d, bring picture in and scale em to get dimension of other things just basic useful 3d cad i can save as a .3dm to google drive. Im not building cars outdoors. I just need to run a pipe to a hole i dug and miss all the concrete of my deck posts or pour curved stairs that conform to building code and figure out how i can nest the forms in a 4x8 sheet of plywood

I honestly really like it, but a few things to note
This is a really “great communication with client” on site kind of solution. One thing I am begging to see here which I thought existed was the ability to pull dimensions on a model. I see there is a ruler kind of thing within the “markup” mode, however I haven’t gotten it to be useful measurements of any kind.
In the markup mode, I’d like to be able to pull dimensions similarly to the function in Rhino.
Still very good communication tool, however adding in that feature would make me switch this to a 5/5 app. Thanks McNeel for including this in your CAD suite of solutions. Very helpful.

This app has come a long way. Sadly it still needs some development love and attention.
