Stealth Subscription

The app is nice, but the way it takes your subscription from free to £60 without notification is not on. Frankly I was under the impression this app was free. I would not have installed it if I had known it was a subscription model. I only realised when I noticed £60 had gone from my bank account. Not happy. I request a full and immediate refund as none of this is made clear. Thank you.

Critical Feedback: Significant Improvements Needed in Lesson Structure and Quiz Design

Assalamu Alaikum,

I want to share some constructive but critical feedback on the educational experience in the Jibreel app.

I appreciate Jibreel's mission and the effort to make Islamic education accessible, engaging, and convenient. However, after completing lessons and taking the accompanying quizzes, I have become increasingly frustrated with what I perceive as a disconnect between the information being taught and the questions being asked.

My biggest concern is that some quiz questions appear to assess information that was not clearly explained or sufficiently emphasized in the preceding lesson. I have carefully reviewed the material and still encountered questions that require knowledge or distinctions I do not recall being explicitly covered.

This creates a frustrating learning experience, particularly for Muslims who are genuinely trying to strengthen their understanding of the deen.

I understand the educational value of challenging questions, active recall, and knowledge retention. However, there is an important difference between challenging someone to apply what they have learned and expecting them to answer questions without adequate preparation.

If Jibreel’s goal is to make Islamic knowledge accessible to Muslims of varying educational backgrounds, the instructional design needs to reflect that commitment.

I would strongly encourage your development and educational teams to address the following issues:

1. Improve alignment between lessons and assessments. Every quiz question should be directly supported by information presented in the lesson or clearly identified as an application of that information. Users should not have to guess what the lesson was attempting to teach.
2. Provide more comprehensive explanations. While bite-sized lessons are convenient, brevity should never come at the expense of clarity. Certain Islamic concepts require additional context, examples, and explanation to be understood properly.
3. Improve feedback following incorrect answers. Rather than simply identifying an answer as incorrect, explain why the correct answer is appropriate, why the other options are incorrect, and where the concept was covered in the lesson.
4. Introduce practical examples before testing application. If a quiz asks users to apply Islamic principles to hypothetical situations, the lesson should first demonstrate how those principles apply to comparable situations.
5. Allow users to revisit relevant lesson material. Providing a direct link from an incorrectly answered question to the corresponding explanation would significantly improve the learning experience.
6. Review the difficulty and wording of quiz questions. Questions should assess genuine comprehension rather than exploit ambiguous wording, subtle distinctions that were never explained, or unnecessarily confusing answer choices.
7. Consider the experience of newer Muslims. Not everyone using Jibreel has years of Islamic education. For those of us who are still developing our foundational knowledge, clarity and instructional progression are especially important.

My broader concern is that the app risks prioritizing gamification and quiz completion over genuine understanding.

Streaks, scores, and interactive assessments can encourage engagement, but they should support the educational mission rather than overshadow it. A user should finish a lesson feeling more knowledgeable and confident in their understanding of Islam, not confused about why they answered questions incorrectly despite paying attention.

Because Jibreel teaches religious knowledge that people may apply directly to their worship and daily lives, I believe the standard for educational clarity should be particularly high.

I am sharing this feedback because I want Jibreel to succeed. I see tremendous potential in the platform, but I believe the lesson-to-assessment experience needs meaningful improvement.

The ultimate measure of success should not be how many lessons users complete or how consistently they maintain a streak. It should be how well they understand, retain, and correctly apply the Islamic knowledge being taught.

I hope your team takes this feedback seriously and considers reviewing the curriculum and assessment structure from an instructional-design perspective.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
