Perfect Self-Hosted Notes

This was already great, but now feels close to perfect! The latest updates have made this a wonderful way to have your notes stored LOCALLY on your home network and not giving the “big guys” access to your PERSONAL DATA! If you want to keep your notes private, host Kept and grab this app!

Thanks a ton for taking the time to write this Hyper! The issues you identified here should be fixed as of this version, so I definitely encourage you to give an update a go!

Great note taking app

Simple and easy to use with great features like quick sharing images and links

A Great Self-Hosted Alternative

Most of the reviews misunderstand the goal of this app. This is great a way to escape having all of your personal notes stored on cloud servers. I have long awaited a true alternative to Google Keep, and Kept Notes is it.

The only ways I could see this majorly improved are:

1. Live sync/Offline Drafts. If you create a new note and forget to close the note before you exit the app, it’s as if that note never existed. I have lost information this way a few times.

2. Adding a drawing to an existing note can make the text within completely inaccessible.

*Note: I have noticed that the currently available version of the app is not as up to date as the GitHub release. My issues may already be resolved once the newest app update is released.

A ridiculous way method to set up

For some reason, this app requires a convoluted server set up that is impossible to get working instead of just using iCloud like a normal app.

Response from developer

Hey there AtJa80! I sincerely apologize for the frustation this caused you, especially if it wasn't clear enough in the app description at the time for you to know it would also need a server. I'm excited to share with you that as of this update you can now try it without a server at all - it will work fully on-device, no server required. If you're willing to give it another shot, I think you'll be quite pleased with the update!
