Horrible app

For 1500 dollars for 3 lights, I’d think that it wouldn’t take 20 minutes every time the app chooses to disconnect itself. Sometimes every 5 minutes, sometimes once an hour, sometimes every 3 days. This app is absolutely atrocious and for a premium lighting company to even associate themselves with it is disgusting. They have literally ruined the experience of owning their product products because of their lack of attention to their app. You can’t access the functionality of the lights without the app, but the app doesn’t work. This will be the last time I ever buy a Kessil product.

Worst app ever written 0 stars

I would not buy Kessil items

This app makes me want to throw my lights away

This may be one of the most frustrating apps built to configure IoT devices.

Great when it works

Just add a blue tooth. Constantly times out of WiFi. Just spent 2 hours getting back on after iPhone update. Baffling to me as good a company as Kessil is they let this go on. Just put a $10 k link dongle out there and put Bluetooth on the app. If that’s possible I would think so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Terrible app terrible customer support

App always crashes. Lights are poorly made. I should have gone with Radions. Customer support was no help.

One massive headache

Really difficult to connect to, the app is also buggy

Don’t do it

I am not the most tech savvy person but this app but this is ridiculous. If you are interested in becoming frustrated it is the app for you. Getting this connected is almost impossible. I lost connectivity after I had the app in place for almost two years and have yet to reestablish. If there were a no star option it would still be too high

Time To Do Better Kessil!!!

This app and dongle have become useless. Major connectivity problems with a360x lights.

Horrible

This app will kill your livestock. While have this app controlling your settings it will randomly take on a mind of its own. For instance I have it set to ramp down at night eventually turning off at 7 pm, I woke up one night to find the light blasting at full power when it should have been off. The next day I found an angelfish, that I had for years, somehow came down with some sort of infection or ick. I am absolutely disgusted with Kessil for this, never again will I buy another product of theirs.

Beyond Buggy

The app when you can get it to work is fine. I’ve found that directly connecting to the Ap9X or WiFi dongle own internal WiFi yields the best results. I noticed that after IOS 18 I’m logged out and can no longer log in through Google which means I cannot backup my settings.
This is a huge problem for someone like me that has multiple clients using Kessil lighting.

AP9X App is horrible!!!!

This is literally the worst app I’ve ever used. Such a hassle to connect to the lights through WiFi. So disappointing as the lights themselves are very nice. Please address this Kessil!

AP9 issue

I been using Kessil lights for about 3 years, actually with a setup of 2 of them and Im really happy, BUT this app is so useless and annoying, Have no sense there is no upgrades and Firmware changes on the lights to avoid this constant need to add the lamps every time you us the app , can someone at Kessil can explain this?? We are in 2024

Great Lights - App Crashes

The app hasn’t been updated in 2 years? Gee, I wonder why it crashes? Maybe if I still had an iPhone 12 with iOS 12 it would work better. I go to try and schedule lunar or sunset events in my schedule and boom, the app crashes. $2100 on lights and now I guess I have to drop another $1000 for a 3rd party Apex to be able to make the lights do things that Kessil should have baked in and be the best at doing. Obviously from other reviews support is a waste of time and I found similar in my pre-purchase planning trying to obtain a DMX converter to use to control via K-link. Nope, only for commercial installs. I guess $2100 isn’t worth their care or worry. So I also bought an AI Blade and a G6 Radion on my sump. Maybe those will end up being better. Time will tell.

Mediocre at best

Extremely slow to load and connect

Lost connection with the dongle. Now it’s impossible to re-connect.

Layout is not user friendly.
Functions are not user friendly.
Difficult to understand

Worst App connectitivity

I have 2 AP9X’s with the k link cable which work absolutely flawless for the price. This app however, has great settings for control which is only useful if you can ever get them to connect or “stay connected”. I am tech savvy and have an entire smarthome setup. This app has gotten me so boiling to the point that i could toss these lights into the street and roll over them continuously with my truck. Do better Kessil

Rubbish

Simply rubbish !!

Useless

Constant crashes while trying a quick reload. Had to delete and reinstall app only to have it lose connection again and back to crashing while trying to reload. When this is the only way to control your lights, having an unstable app is unacceptable.

The app works great, the problem is your network.

This app works flawlessly. No issues with connectivity or function. If you’re having problems with it, it’s because you don’t understand how to setup your network properly. Which is a problem for most people, because most people aren’t generally tech savvy enough to handle even simple tech. No offence meant to anyone, but if you’re having problems it isn’t the app, it’s your network, your skill set, or both. The majority of reefer’s are either old dudes struggling with tech, or young dudes that are too adhd to learn and read instructions.

You’ll see most reef apps have bad reviews. Same thing with Mobius which also works just fine. It’s not the app makers fault that the general public can’t figure out how to work their tech.

Is this app still supported ?

Time zone seems to be off. I tried to log in - no luck. I came to the App Store to see if there was a newer version. No luck. Not sure if this app is being supported at all.
That said, I can still control my light but timing is off.

Does Kessil use this app themselves?

This app is by far the clunkiest and non-user-friendly app on my phone. Always breaks, always forgets my dongle, need to reset app far too much. How can these lights be so good but the controller is pure garbage. For lights in this price range this app should be better than AI’s light app. And it’s not. And their app has issues too.

As someone else said, it feels Beta. I’d say Alpha.

“Make sure light is orange” - doesn’t instruct how to make light orange. Figured it out on my own.

No reliable subnet cross communication.

Do better. Hire better developers.
