If you came here because of Startpage, don’t waste your dollar.

Apple has removed all the functionality of this app with its latest Safari updates. You can’t add or change keywords or websites, and you cannot change the default search page behavior.

Best way to add search engines to Safari

Dl’d this because I wanted to use Startpage as my default search in Safari. This totally does the trick. The keyword search feature is cool too, but I mainly got this to just change the default search, and it does that seamlessly. Thanks Arne!

Doesn’t work with Ios26

I’ll change my review to five stars if you update your app

Cheap and Simple - THANK YOU!

I resell on ebay and being able to set up short cuts to search for active and sold listings with a short cut is a life saver on Mac. THANK YOU!!!!!

Safari’s Missing Feature!

This is clearly a missing feature in Safari! Glad this plug-in addresses it! The only thing that would make this better is if it had automating between my devices!

FAQ

What does this app do?

This app allows you to set up custom keywords that trigger searches on any search engine directly from your web browser's address bar. It simplifies web searches by letting you use short codes for specific sites or tasks, like searching Wikipedia or checking if a website is down.

How does the keyword search work?

You can define a keyword (e.g., 'w' for Wikipedia) and then type it followed by your search query in the address bar (e.g., 'w monkey'). The app intercepts this and directs your query to the configured search engine. You can also set any search engine as your default.

Is this app free to use?

Yes, the application is available for free. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned, indicating a completely free user experience.

What are some common use cases for this app?

Common use cases include quickly searching specific encyclopedias like Wikipedia, performing mathematical calculations on platforms like WolframAlpha, or checking the status of websites. It's designed to save time by integrating frequent searches directly into your browsing workflow.

Does this app work on multiple devices?

The app syncs seamlessly with its Mac version, suggesting that while the primary functionality is for browser integration, your settings and search history can be synchronized across your devices if you use the Mac application as well.
