Fun game, but PVP is ruining the experience for PVE players
Kingdom Maker can be a very enjoyable game. People play games to relax, have fun, make friends and enjoy their free time. Unfortunately, the way PvP works can turn that experience into the complete opposite.
There are players who mainly enjoy PvE, building their kingdom, developing their nobles, fighting PvE enemies and playing socially with their alliance. But powerful PvP players can repeatedly attack these players even when they clearly have no interest in fighting them. When the difference in strength is enormous, it doesn’t really feel like competitive PvP—it feels like bullying weaker players who cannot realistically fight back.
A game that someone opens because they want to have fun shouldn’t regularly leave them angry, upset or frustrated because a much stronger player decided to destroy months of their progress.
I have been playing Kingdom Maker for around two years, and during that time I have seen many friends and other players leave the game because of PvP. Some of them genuinely enjoyed the game, but after repeatedly dealing with attacks and conflicts they didn’t want to be part of, the game stopped being fun for them. It is disappointing to watch people you have played alongside for months or even years disappear because they became frustrated and no longer enjoyed playing.
I’m not asking for PvP to be removed. PvP players should be able to enjoy the game their way too. But PvE players also deserve a meaningful way to play the game their way. There should be better protection, dedicated PvE options, or systems that discourage extremely powerful players from repeatedly targeting much weaker kingdoms.
Kingdom Maker has a great community and a lot of potential, but giving PvE-focused players more protection would make the game much more enjoyable and welcoming.

So close but the loss of Creativity, diversity and poor PvP all made this a pass for me.
I tried this game for a significant while and it is a mixed bag that i give a harsh score because of what could have been. The way you start things is creative but within a few levels you are funneled into a pattern starves your creativity.
You start off designing three important things, your crest, the Lord and Lady of your kingdom. It lets you make them well enough and with some doing you can do East Asian and black folk are just a color job. If you are and want to have a Europeans look and game they have you covered. They will be human. Now the crest is a fun thing to do and you can redo them anytime (the royals not so much ) . You will get to make may rolls with classes only make two of the miners and only one of the others (your mate will be one) leave it like that so you can marry (They don’t tell you that ) also marry like to like class to like class so when they bonk they can magnify their abilities.
As your king home grows you will have to take a single form for your keep and buildings look around or ask others can help you. There will be no real creativity here as well.
When you sleep you should make a good alliance (The ones I had were great I actually miss them) as your keep will often not hold. In fact if you are hit at random you will not be able to strike back.
As you try to build your family that too will be restricted.
Do not expect to see any brown skinned humans as heroes There is only one East Asian. Understand you will find elves, orcs, undead and Europeans - it that is an issue you are warned. You can and should try to get a dragon and likely you will get it by building your Keep. Never stop building. They will give you gold but the resources are not all easy to get and often they have the same icons but the money .. they have a 100 kinds of in game season money. Confusing yes but creative no.
You will have to spend a lot of money or marry into better royals - you do as you like there. Your book marks will disappear often so don’t rely on them.
The PVP is far from good. Limitations on who can attack who is loose at best. Your armies may not Avenue able to help you by where they spawn from. If you are attacked you can be attacked over and over and not actually know where the person that attacked you was unless you already had a relationship with them .. seriously!
The creativity is too tight and the fixes obvious.So many almost great ideas in the package. But it just misses the mark.

Not “just” a game… an obsession…
Sure the game is good. Gameplay always engaging. Challenges keep you coming back. But the friendships forged… alliances built… guidance given… growth achieved.
Only game I’ve never deleted.

my experience in the game
The game is actually good at fist, but little by little you realize it’s pay-to-win. The game heavily favors those who pay, and if all the strong players form an alliance, they literally prevent others from growing. The penalties are also too weak to prevent someone with overwhelming power from attacking a weak player. My recommendation is, if you’re not going to spend money on the game don’t play, because you’ll waste a lot of time

Banned For no reason
I loved playing this game until I was randomly banned for no reason. I tried contacting support and I still heard nothing from the company. It’s been a few years and nothing had changed. I’d love to resolve this issue and continue playing.
Money grab
Dave sucks and way too much pay to win culture.
Loosing interest
Rewards are getting hard to win. I don’t see why they make people fight over rewards but you can easily get sniped. Imagine spending hundred’s of dollars to get pushed out of 5th and loose your chance of getting a reward. Least they could do is let people buy the one of time reward if they missed it. No matter if it’s a global event or a shard event anyone at the last minute can snipe you for the rewards you thought you could win. I’ve spent way too much already and still can’t win special rewards but hey I guess I’ll just stop spending so much. Seems like they make more money letting people fight for a reward then to just sell the reward for a price. Once you realize how much money you spend and you loose out on those rewards after spending hundred’s of dollar’s it really just burns you out. Now I’m just going to give up on those special rewards and try to continue playing but I’m loosing interest. If anyone is reading this..save your money and don’t waste it on this game. I’ve spent thousands to get rewards so I don’t loose out on them but I can’t even compete anymore because I’m not as rich as most people on this game. I’ve come to an understanding I just need to quit cold turkey and give up on thinking I can win. I’ve been sniped to many times to care anymore

I finished researching resource production yields that were surprisingly good, but the production time remains the same. Why is that?
Game got freeze
On my 11 Pro Max iPhone this game got keep freezing. Sometimes it freezes at 16 percent and other time at 68 percent. I don’t why it is happening as I did update as well but it’s still happening. I worried that armies went for mining could be attacked.
Promised ratings change.
I love this game and normally would recommend it. There is a great balance between pvp and pve. A good alliance makes all the difference. There is pay to win but there are always people at my level. However, the only thing keeping this from being five stars is the incredible lack of mines. Before the merge we could find mines for our dailies and improvements. Now, there is never an open iron mine unless you find a kind soul that will switch you. The emerald and sulfur are almost as bad. The merger jammed too many people into a place that lacks sufficient ore nodes. If this could be fixed, or give better rewards from the ore refinement it would be perfect.
Update 2026: with a new and larger map my earlier concern has been fixed. I promised one of the devs that when they gave us army presets I would make my review 5 stars and I did. There are changes I would still like to see but the Dev team is responsive and easy to chat with.

Update: would love to see, emojis for both global and private chats, would love to be able to change roles of babies, and family trees. Because it’s confusing, not being able to keep your track of your families. 🥺, also wish I can add Facebook to save the game and transfer it to like my phone instead of keeping it on my iPad.

My alliance want to a Roman Empire vibe, so I wanted to change my name to the holy city of Constantinople, but due to character limit, I couldn’t put the last to characters. I understand character limits, I just feel they could be ever so slightly bigger. Love the game, keep up the good work!

They keep changing the map and merging the pc servers with the mobile servers forcing everything to be changed and relocated

I respect this game cause despite being free to play it has no ads, in return it has a lot of pay to win, but the level of cost people have to pay is actually insane. Stuff that would take me maybe a day in game people are spending 20 bucks on, so this isn’t exactly the game devs fault that it’s pay to win, pay to win is a choice by the players while ads are a choice forced upon them. What I’m saying is this game has earned my respect for being a decent game and didn’t try to sell out by making the only good way to progress to spend money. For example I’m my shard currently I’m up next to a lot of the people who spend money In game. It just takes some skill, but be warned there are some people who spend way too much on the game who propel themselves to the top with literally thousands of dollars, we call him crazy Carl.
