Wonderful App

I’ve been using this app for the last few years, and I love it so much. I’ve created many sweaters using it. My favourite way is to knit in the round, from the top down, and this app is great in explaining it. I also love that complex knitting is given row by numbered row. It makes it so much easier to count off the rows as they’re completed. Before this I used to use Knitting Wizard, but it wasn’t available anymore that I could find. This is indeed a wonderful app to replace it and I’m so happy that it works with iOS. Thank you so much for creating it!

Measures wrong for a standard gauge knitting machine

Sweater was 4 inches too short with the measurements. So I had to measure the 16” of knitted fabric and recalculate in order for it to fit. There should be a needle size to choose from on machine knit. As the pattern works on my 9mm machine but completely out on my 4.5 mm machine.

UI is painful!

Before purchasing, I looked at reviews. One reviewer complained about the popups at EVERY. SINGLE. STEP. OF. THE. WAY. You replied that it was only for the first pattern. Nu-uh!! EVERY. FRIKKIN. STEP OF THE WAY. For multiple patterns. And what makes it 10 times worse is that you can’t start a garment and save part way through. So, if you don’t have ALL of the information ready to enter, you either have to continue, putting some fake, placeholder numbers in (hoping that when you go back to put in the right numbers that you catch all of the fake ones, and don’t miss any, thus ending up following a pattern that is wrong), or you lose everything you’ve entered up to that point. This was also mentioned by the same reviewer - THREE YEARS AGO, and no changes made. Frustrating and disappointing.

I will add that after completing the lengthy process of entering all of that information, the final message is a fairly cryptic one about copying the new information. When I clicked on that, which seemed like the next thing I was being asked to do . . . ALL OF MY ENTRIES DISAPPEARED. AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!😤😤😖😖

Trying the app out

I was able to input measurements and save the inputs but it would be nice to have explanations of some of the measurements. How exactly do you measure underarm depth? The other issue is every time I input a measurement a pop up screen appears and I have to click ok. Every time. So I created a pattern and we’ll see how it goes.

I started knitting and I love the instructions so far! I am knitting a tshirt in fingering weight so I hope I did the measurements correctly. Will update as I go along.

It also does not appear to be one piece top down based on the drawing, but I haven’t started knitting yet. I’m not terribly impressed so far.

FAQ

What can I create with this app?

This app allows you to create unlimited custom knitting patterns for both sweaters and cardigans. You can design patterns for any yarn gauge and for standard sizes or specific body measurements, catering to men, women, and children.

What types of patterns does the app generate?

The app generates patterns in both written text format and as schematic diagrams. You have options for knitting the garment in the round from the top down, or flat from the bottom up. It also supports various armhole/sleeve types and neckline styles.

How can I save or share my created patterns?

Created patterns are saved within the app's pattern list. You can print the written instructions and schematic diagrams using AirPrint, or save them as a PDF file. These PDFs can then be opened in other applications like Documents or iBooks.

What customization options are available for patterns?

The app offers extensive customization, including inputting yarn gauge, body and garment measurements, choosing between pullover or cardigan styles, selecting armhole/sleeve types, defining neckline dimensions and styles, and adjusting fit from close-fitting to oversized. You can also select main stitch options and ribbing preferences.

Does the app support different measurement units and needle sizes?

Yes, the app allows you to work in either centimeters or inches for your measurements. It also supports metric, US, or old UK knitting needle sizes, providing flexibility for knitters worldwide.
