Used to work, not anymore

I’ve had this for 3 years and had no issues with pairing after taking my bike out of winter storage. I opened the ap today and it immediately recognized the device but after a minute it forced me to login again and now doesn’t show my device or let me pair.

Bad

Arming disarming really difficult without re installing app! Blue tooth range useless when in cafe supermarket on bike tour , just a tech headache on a bike .

Generally easy to set up and use

The app is functional and does the job. When I first got the device I had to charge it up - and was confused as to why I couldn’t discover it. You have to unplug and plug it back in and then search for it. If it’s sitting on the charger for half an hour and you try to discover the scout it won’t work.

I do wish the alarm sensitivity slider was explained in more detail.

Pointless invention.

I get it, it’s a nice design but the alarm is pointless. The alarm can easily be drowned out by foot traffic. Secondly, it drains the battery on iPhones. Thirdly the device can easily disconnect when walking into a shop. So what’s the point? I could have saved less with an AirTag that does the same thing but without the lids alarm. The app when disconnecting needs me to restart the phone to disarm the device too. Finally, the location is silly. A thief can easily snap the bottle cage off with the alarm. The yellow cover doesn’t deter. It just shows it’s there. I’ve since spent money on a 4G GPRS tracker from PAJ. Also I’ve insured my bike too. It’s the best option. I’d look into making a louder device with a magnetic pad and larger screws. It really is no different to an AirTag. Also I’ve had it one week and the battery is showing as 90 percent. It says 2-4 months?

Extremely sensitive alarm, bad UX

I really want this to be good. The tracker hardware is good, but the app leaves a lot to be desired. The sensitivity of the alarm is way too high even if it’s on its lowest sensitivity setting. Just touching the bike will set it off.

About the app

This application should definitely get a decent update, because it constantly has a lot of bugs. Very rare updates. The device was not cheap. I ask for a good level of support.

Background refresh doesn’t exist

You need to leave the app running for the notifications to come through as there isn’t background app refresh options so it keeps running in the background. I usually swipe apps away so forget to leave it running so don’t get alarm or any other notifications from it. It’s sold as a premium product but this is a big feature to miss

Started okay, turned awful

At first these worked well so I bought more. Somewhere along the way, maybe after firmware 1.1.3, they became unreliable. Two died after software update. Now only one of my 5 devices will connect, and, ironically, a brand new one with the latest software will connect but won’t arm. Don’t bother.

Great product, not so great firmware and software

Been using the Knog Scout for about 6 months now and the device is great compared to air tags in terms of accuracy, discretion and security, however the firmware and software really let this product down and in need of a update. About every 3rd time you open the app to enable or disable the scout, it’s frozen and you can’t do either. The only way to fix this is hard shut down the app and reconnect again. Also the connectivity time is all over the place, I can be standing next to the scout with my phone and it sometimes connects in 3 seconds, other times up to 30 seconds.

Again great device but the behind the scenes components really let it down

Basic functions work well. Setup not intuitive

I’ve had this for around a year and the the system works well via both Apple AirTag and alarm functionality.
Handy at work and when leaving bike briefly outside shops (with a lock also on).
The app linking/ setup process was terrible with an iPhone despite having a lot of experience setting up multiple linked devices for phones and computers over years. This part should be a simple power up and pair process but instead you need to set up a Knog account (for no valid user based reason - it just needs to connect to my phone- nothing to do with Knog servers). If you get the setup order wrong it fails and you have to start over. Please Knog just allow phone to device link and not require consumers to hand over yet more personal details to a 3rd party.

It works well

I feel like the reviews are not fair to the alarm and the app. Everything works pretty well, maybe arming and disarming could be a bit more accessible from the main screen but it’s not a big issue. Also just wanted to mention how cool and thoughtful the packaging design was for the hardware. Well done.

Absolute garbage on iPhone 16 Pro Max

Even on a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max, the software is a disaster. Once the device loses sync while armed, it’s game over. The manual factory reset is a joke—110 attempts and it never worked. I had to smash it with a hammer to stop the constant alarm. Knog should be ashamed of releasing such buggy software. Do not buy!

OK, could be great

The app generally works and Find My works fine. Unfortunately though I frequently have to force close the app before I can arm/disarm the alarm. Also, a live activity when the device is armed for quick disarm would be good. And a widget to enable arm/disarm from lock/Home Screen

Scout Knog

So bad working app. Can’t find my device. Better to find other way for secure your items.

Hopeless

Don’t bother. The app does not work

Won’t pair devices with iOS 26

As described in the title a compatibiliy update would be more than welcome.

Another garbage Knog product

Like the Knog bell before it, this is yet another Knog product that does not perform as promised. I have had this for a while now and for no reason it is suddenly impossible to arm the alarm. Previously I was stupid enough to believe their spruiking of their O bell, which proved to be fragile, mute and a total waste of money. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice … Well,
you get it I’m sure. There will be no 3rd time. What a bunch of duds they are at Knog.
