About
Something changed today and you have not heard about it: a lane closed on your commute, a hazard warning went up two suburbs over, the power is out on your street, fuel moved overnight.
Koala opens with a brief for your suburb — and every live card prints where the number came from and when we fetched it, so you can tell a fact from a guess.
WHAT IS LIVE, AND WHERE IT COMES FROM
• Weather and pollen — Open-Meteo, for your suburb
• Road closures and works — Transport for NSW, with the detour note
• Emergency warnings — Bureau of Meteorology land warnings, all eight states and territories
• Fuel prices — live survey prices for NSW, WA and Queensland
• Power outages — OutageOWL, an independent tracker, with affected-region counts rather than your address
• Fire, flood and storm — BOM plus the state emergency services
ASK IT ANYTHING
"Can I afford this?" "What's free to do tonight?" "Which school term are we in?" "How do I claim this back?" Type it or say it, and answers come back in whichever language you use. Koala keeps notes on what you tell it — budget, allergies, the places you go — so replies get shorter and more useful over time, and you can read or delete those notes whenever you like.
EVERYDAY TOOLKIT
• Money: log an expense in two taps, see the week and the month, set a budget
• Food and shopping: lists that group themselves, and "what can I cook with this?"
• Co-planning: build a weekend plan with someone else in the same thread
• Places: check in, keep a map of everywhere you have been, get a year in review
• Students and new arrivals: term dates, rent and banking basics, transport how-tos
• A Home Screen widget and a morning brief you can switch off
PRIVACY, IN PLAIN TERMS
• Nothing goes to an AI model until you allow it. The app asks before your first request leaves the device, and you can change your mind under Me > AI & your data.
• No advertising SDKs. No analytics SDKs. Your data is not sold.
• Crash and quality reports carry a random install identifier — not your Apple ID, name, message text or location.
• AI messages go to Cloudflare Workers AI running GLM-4.7-Flash by Z.ai, and are not used to train models.
• Deleting your account inside the app removes every row of your data with it.
FREE AND PRO
Free is 20 AI conversations a day with every live card included. Pro removes the cap. If you run out, emergency questions — earthquake, fire, urgent care — still get answered, up to 5 a day.
Koala is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Bureau of Meteorology, Transport for NSW or any state emergency service. Live cards name their source; in an emergency always check the official source for your area and call 000. AI answers can be wrong — treat them as a starting point, not financial or medical advice.

What's New in Koala AI
1.0.13
October 26, 2026
Koala's answers are easier to read, and it tells you whose side broke. - Ask something and the reply comes back formatted: headings in bold, steps as a list. Before, the markup markers were printed as they were, so answers were littered with stray asterisks. - Fixed: Home's traffic card could repeat itself ("SCHEDULED ROADWORK; SCHEDULED ROADWORK Resurfacing"). It now names what kind of closure it is, then the road and suburb it affects. - Fixed: when the trouble was on our side, Koala still said your connection had dropped. Server-side trouble now says so plainly, so you know whether to check your signal or simply try again.
