When a storm, burn-off, or flash flood warning goes out for your area, most people hear about it secondhand. AusGuard pulls Australia's official public feeds into one app: weather, warnings, air quality, beach conditions, and the roads you were about to drive on — with the assistant button one tap away on every tab.
WEATHER, FIRE DANGER, AND AIR QUALITY
Minute-by-minute rain, 7-day outlooks, hourly conditions, and a UV timeline from Open-Meteo. Fire danger ratings and total fire ban status come from the state feeds that publish them in machine-readable form, currently NSW and SA. AQI with pollutant breakdowns for PM2.5, PM10, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide from public monitoring networks in NSW, QLD, and SA. Where a feed has nothing for your area, no number is shown, and cached data is labelled with its age.
EMERGENCY ALERTS
Active Bureau of Meteorology land and flood warnings for all eight states and territories. Live bushfire lists from NSW RFS, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, WA DFES, SA CFS, and ACT ESA, each linking back to that service's own feed. Cyclone tracking uses the Joint Typhoon Warning Center advisory; earthquakes come from USGS. AusGuard aggregates public feeds — it is not a government alert service.
BEACH, SURF, AND SHARK SAFETY
Surf, swell, and water temperature for 28 curated Australian beaches, with rip current risk and modelled tide times marked as estimates. Patrol listings reflect each beach's published season, not a live check that volunteers are on the sand today. Shark incident records are live from WA's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development; NSW and QLD listings show where monitoring operates, not live sightings.
TRAVEL AND COMMUTE
Transit alerts and departure boards for NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, and WA where the operator's feed is reachable — when one is unavailable the board says so instead of showing an empty timetable. Traffic cameras and disruption lists for NSW and Victoria where their feeds respond, plus a link to every other state's traffic map. Fuel prices for NSW, QLD, and WA. Parking around Sydney and Melbourne.
AI ASSISTANT
Ask about weather, safety, or your plans and get an answer built from local conditions. The suite adds morning briefings, an activity planner with weather scoring, a 0-100 safety risk score for your area, hyperlocal micro-weather, and route weather for road trips. Several provider channels answer at once and the first good one streams in word by word. If a source fails or your location is unavailable, these screens say what failed instead of filling in a number.
WIDGETS AND LIVE ALERTS
Home Screen widgets in three sizes, with circular and rectangular Lock Screen widgets. A live alert card appears while an emergency fire or major flood warning is active for your area.
FREE AND AD-FREE
No ads, and no account needed to read weather, warnings, fires, floods, air quality, beach, or travel data. Optional Pro unlocks the AI tools and lifestyle forecasts.
PRIVACY FIRST
Your location travels with the request that fetches conditions for your area. To run and protect the service we keep an app identifier with device model, app version, language, timezone, request counts, and IP address, and we pass your questions and the conditions used to answer them to our AI providers. No advertising trackers, no selling data, no third-party analytics. Sign-in is optional, needed only for community meetups, and you can delete your account and its records from your profile screen.
IMPORTANT
AusGuard is an independent app, not a government service, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Bureau of Meteorology or any state emergency agency. Alerts come from public feeds that can be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable. In an emergency, call 000 and follow official instructions — never rely on this app to decide whether you are safe.
