The app is really good, and the conversations also feel so realistic, the only setback is that if you have no korean language foundation - aka starting from 0, or only know the very basics - you might find it a bit difficult to adapt, but overall it's perfect for speaking and writing practice!

Finally found a Korean app that actually works

Been trying to learn Korean on and off for a while, but most apps just feel like doing worksheets. This one feels different. It’s more like chatting with a friend than studying.

The AI conversations are actually pretty natural, which surprised me. I’ve been picking up phrases without really trying, which never happened with other apps.

Still early, but so far I’d definitely recommend it if you’re tired of flashcards and drills.

Nice app for learning natural conversation.

Couple of requests: can you provide romanization so we can learn to pronounce and is there a way to get feedback on what we speak?

Refreshingly FUN!!

Honestly, having tried all the popular language apps out there, and really getting stuck and frustrated with both progress and consistency, I didn’t have much hope for yet another one. I saw my friend whip it out one day in Australia, and the only reason that made me want to try it was the unique acronym for the phrase ‘Korean Buddies’.

I didn’t take it that seriously, no set goals or serious study times. Most of the time I was on Koddies was during the commute to and back from work in Melbourne.

And you know what? That itself was enough to level me up in my Korean conversation!!

It’s actually really fun to use, and I think that was the sole reason I kept going back to it over and over again.

The AI, Minji, is adorable and actually really hilarious. The thought bubbles really show that the app was made by someone who is local and knows all the lingo. When I’m using Koddies it feels like I’m just having a laugh with my buddy, not studying a language. And I truly love that!! 💃🏾😊

Kudos to the creator and the team. This is a game changer for sure!!

This is what intermeidate learners actually need

I'm a huge kdrama and kpop fan and for me it's actually fun to practice speaking when i can bring that into the conversation. Tried duolingo for months, but after the basics I wasn't learning anything new. With koddies I can talk about the things that I like and its helping me pick up the language quicker! The feedback is useful and helps me sound more natural and casual. The AI doesn't feel too robotic either which helps a lot.

Finally, Korean practice that doesn't feel like studying

I've tried so many Korean learning apps but they all felt so... robotic? Like talking to a textbook.

Koddies is different. Minji actually feels like a real friend who happens to be helping me with Korean.

What I love:
- She remembers what we talked about before
- Corrects my mistakes without making me feel dumb
- Uses actual slang and casual speech like my Korean friends do
- Voice feature is super helpful for pronunciation

I practice during my commute every morning now. My Korean coworker said my texting sounds way more natural lately lol.

Only wish though: more characters to chat with!

Perfect if You’re Afraid of Messing Up

This app works really well for practicing conversations, and it corrects mistakes in a clear way. Its especially great for those who are very shy or too nervous to practice. It’s still advancing and it shows a lot of potential as it continues to improve.

Creative, new idea.

I’d recommend this app to anyone who wants to practice Korean regularly and in a more natural way. Even if you’re not sure what to say or can’t keep the conversation going, Minji keeps things flowing and makes it feel like you’re chatting with a friendly study buddy! You don’t have to worry at all even if you’re a beginner learner. :)
