CROOKS

As a contractor, I would never recommend LawnGuru. After years on the platform, it’s turned into nothing more than a race to the cheapest bidder. They expect contractors to provide professional service while paying rates that often don’t reflect the actual cost of doing the work.

Prices rarely keep up with rising labor, fuel, equipment, and insurance costs, yet contractors are expected to bend over backwards for very little profit. There is little transparency, poor communication, and it often feels like the platform values low prices over quality service.

One of my biggest frustrations is that they market directly to customers instead of helping contractors build lasting relationships with them. You’re left doing all the work while having very little control over your own business.

If you’re serious about growing a professional lawn care company, I’d recommend investing your time in building your own customer base instead of relying on this platform. In my experience, LawnGuru has become a race to the bottom rather than a partnership with contractors

Súper mala aplicación

Today my account was closed because they claimed I received a payment outside of the app, which is completely false. Just yesterday, I was appealing a large payment that the app still owes me, and today, coincidentally, they decide to shut down my account.

What’s ironic is that I clearly stated through the app itself that I understood accepting payments outside the platform was against policy and could seriously affect my account, which is exactly why I never did it.

I do not recommend this app at all. Yes, a lot of jobs come through it, but what’s the point if they fail to pay properly and then suddenly close your account without a fair investigation? Be careful, everyone

Don’t waste your time

Pay is low. Customers will lie and say you never did the job when you actually did do the job and lawn guru will take the money back from you. You can appeal it with pictures but lawn guru always takes the customers side

As a company

This simply drives down market pricing for services. If you’re an established company. Don’t waste your time

Scam guru

Warning to providers. Stay away from LawnGuru.

They do not care about their providers. Their priority is profit.

They take 30% + of every service YOU provide. If you build a route - remember it is not yours. If you miss a single day of mowing, you may lose most of your customers.

In the winter - if you miss a single day, you will be penalized. Regardless whether you are sick, out of town, emergency - they will charge you for each one of your customers. Zero flexibility. Zero understanding. Again, they do not care about you and that you are a human. To them, you are a machine that is not allowed to miss a beat.

Their app crashes frequently, especially during storms. They will send you your route and you complete it. If for some reason a customers credit card doesn’t work and you already completed the job, tough luck. Your loss. They will not pay you. This happened in multiple occasions.

I cannot emphasize enough how little they care about you. Again, profit first. Do not ask questions why they scam you money on work you did or why they take 30%. They will terminate you. You will lose your route. You are replaceable. Doesn’t matter how good you are and the quality of service you provide.
Zero accountability. Zero ethics.

Stay away from LawnGuru.

Truth about LawnGuru

LawnGuru is for lawn care

Unprofessional

Listen up Contractor. These people run this business from their , they are for one charging double the price for what they're offering as a contract to contractors. They deduct your money when they want without confirming and contacting you.

Improper care

They seriously need some help with this here app. There is no way yall should take someone hard earned money just because yall felt like yall can that’s not good for the consumer like myself who’s anemic but still got my job done. 12/02/25 7 jobs to be completed but there is not enough snow on the ground to be charging the customer then deducted it from my pay they have no one to talk to or to communicate with we have to wait hours for some so call agent about the money I made that is being token from me

Scalped for everything and anything

Worst platform ever. Communicated with the customer that equipment was down, attempted to reschedule through Lawngurus horrible system, and they waited until 9PM to deny the request to delay. Then instead of communicating with me, they released the job without my knowledge charging me $15. I reached out again yesterday and then after I COMPLETED A SERVICE THEY RELEASED TBE ACCOUNT I JUST COMPLETED AND CHARGED ME AGAIN. Stay away from this platform.

AKA LawnGarbage

I’ve used apps since 2019 for all my clients. It’s 2025 and I can officially say I failed because I use these apps for all my clients.
Where did I go wrong. I didn’t get out and hustle up my own clients who can afford lawn service.
The app mows have about 5% of people who know what lawn service is. The rest are code enforcement mows or emergency chops.
If you need customers just use the post office every door direct campaigns.

This LG app doesn’t work as it should. They have priority neighborhoods I can get into as they’ve marked my working location 10 miles west of where I live and want to focus my effort.
All suggestions are ignored or forgotten. The “team” will text constantly on trivial matters and disrespect your efforts at every turn.

You’ll work 5x harder using these apps rather than doing it all yourself.

Customer Service Is Terrible

Customer service is only there to protect the company. When hurricane helene winds hit my city it did alot of damage people power was out trees were stuck in the road even some places was flooded but since I didn’t message my customers to let them know I wouldn’t be there to service their lawn which was obvious it been heavy rain and winds for days they charged me for late fees and wouldn’t reimburse me so I had to cut a few yards for free to get my account out the negative and customer service didn’t help resolve the situation they told me what the policy states and that’s it never showed concern for the providers or customer

No way !

This is the dumbest app! Get on the phone to confirm my id . She says I’ll send a link to your email because the scanner isn’t working on my phone . I get the link via email and it sends me directly to my phone smh . This has been going on for the past month. I guess im the dummy !

Terrible app

To ever reading this never use this app it’s god awful

They are making updates.

Ive have a handful of customers a few years on here. The pay steadily increases the more you mow the same property.
20 min work for $38 on one of them and it started at $28.
Weather plays a role in retention so keep on those mows.

Response from developer

Hey there, apologies for the misunderstanding here but we do offer services in Dallas, TX! Please reach out to us at support@lawnguru.co and we can get your account updated.

Horrible.

This platform charges you $15 to cancel jobs if customers are not responsive and customer service is not even responsive. This company is a joke. And should be shut down.

Cheap Customers

As a landscaping professional, I gave LawnGuru a fair shot, but I have to be honest—it’s just not sustainable from the service provider side. Most of the jobs listed on the platform fall between $20 and $40, and after LawnGuru takes their cut, you’re left with very little to justify the time, gas, equipment wear, and labor.

The app attracts a lot of customers looking for bargain services, which is understandable, but it doesn’t translate into long-term or profitable work for professionals trying to run a legitimate business. There’s no room to scale or build customer relationships, and the fees eat into already thin margins.

If you’re just starting out or looking for filler work on slow days, it might be worth checking out. But if you’re running a real business with insurance, payroll, and equipment costs, it’s a race to the bottom. I’d recommend building your own client base or using platforms that allow for fair pricing and recurring service agreements.

Horrible

I usually do not write reviews but I feel the need to for this one. I was denied to set up as a provider because I’m using an electric setup. I have an electric riding mower both a gas and electric weed eater and an electric blower. It gets the job done just as good if not better than a gas set up. Who are you to say how I run my business. Take care. My current clients love the reduced noise levels.

Poor business practices

Providers be aware, this app pays Pennie’s on the dollar to what they’re receiving. Further, this app often experiences bugs and issues preventing the work. They also unassign jobs without a reason or notification - resulting in lost wages out of nowhere. They charge unreasonable fees on service providers for cancellations.

Overall a big F.
