Response from developer

Thanks for the suggestion! We’ll pass this on to the team. Showing pinyin more clearly, including while listening in the Playlist, would be useful for Chinese learners.

What’s different?

I installed both lingq apps (the main one) and this one for learning Chinese. It’s so confusing. Which one do I need?

Be careful of free trial

The free trial of 7 days will automatically charge you for a year’s subscription automatically. I tried to change it so after 7 days it would charge me for a monthly subscription. Instead, it just charged me the monthly subscription immediately. Deceptive business practice and I would not use this app again. Use Du Chinese or another Chinese-focused app that is honest about how they plan on charging you.

LingQ > Duolingo

I’ve an input-based English tutor to mostly Chinese students for going on two decades. I’ve studied Chinese with all kinds of apps and in all kinds of classes. LingQ is the real deal: not just gap-fill, cloze, or translation like Duolingo. Acquiring Chinese through stories near my level has gotten me out of my long-time intermediate rut. Thanks Kaufmanns!
