2nd Review

I’m second person reviewing this app i saw this app in reels it’s very easy to learn here and more helpful and it doesn’t have any ads cuz it’s new love this app

Kinda greedy.

I was interested in this to help expand my vocab. I am somewhere B2 and C1 in French. The placement test was extremely rudimentary, asking random vocab questions then placed me in B1. After taking that small ding to my pride it told me I had to subscribe to actually start there. I don’t even know if I like this app and I won’t be able to because I’m not sitting through Je = I on my phone between my actual French classes.

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback, and sorry about the frustrating experience. The placement test is intentionally a little conservative so it doesn’t skip essential vocabulary you may still want to learn. The questions come from different points in the French frequency list to estimate where you should start. In your case, though, there’s another issue. The experience level selected before the test currently limits how high the placement result can go. That limit is too restrictive for more advanced learners, which is why you were placed in B1. I’m raising it in the next update. I also agree that you should be able to experience the app at your actual level before deciding whether to subscribe. I’m working on making that experience better as well. Thanks again for taking the time to explain what happened. This is genuinely helpful feedback!

FAQ

How does Lernlang determine my starting level?

Lernlang uses two initial placement tests. One assesses your vocabulary knowledge, and the other evaluates your grammar proficiency. These tests identify what you already know so you can skip content you've already mastered.

What languages does Lernlang offer?

Lernlang currently offers Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Portuguese. You can choose to focus on one language or study all six.

How does Lernlang teach new words and grammar?

The app teaches the most common words first, as the initial 1,000 words cover about 80% of everyday conversation. Grammar is taught by focusing on specific pairs that learners often struggle with, like 'Ser' and 'estar' in Spanish.

What kind of practice exercises are available in Lernlang?

Lernlang provides a variety of practice methods including flashcards, multiple-choice questions, typing exercises, listening comprehension, and speaking practice with your own voice. Mandarin tones are also included.

Does Lernlang have ads?

No, Lernlang does not contain advertisements. The app is ad-free, allowing for an uninterrupted learning experience.

What are the subscription options for Lernlang?

Lernlang offers subscription plans including 'Langlern Pro' at $6.99/month or $59.99/year, and standard monthly at $12.99/month or yearly at $69.99/year. The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial.

How does Lernlang's review system work?

Reviews are scheduled using the FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition System) algorithm. This ensures that words are revisited just before you are likely to forget them, rather than on a fixed schedule.

Can I practice speaking with Lernlang?

Yes, Lernlang includes speaking practice where you can use your own voice. It also features an AI tutor with whom you can hold conversations to practice using your learned language skills.
