Analysis features are not great
The “learn from your mistakes” feature takes nearly a minute to do anything. It’s faster to copy the pgn and import it into chess.com.
Plus the analysis is not at all informative. It tells you the right answer without any rationale and without enabling the exploration of lines.

bad redesign and confusing
now i gave two lichess apps! both by lichess? horrible app update rollout. the newer app requires more clicks to get to features that the older app had. more clicks is always a design regression! it's too difficult to locate lessons to bookmark/save out of hundreds. there needs to be a better way to surface good lessons or to easily let users see the content without all the extra clicks this new app requires. i'll revise my review when this app actually becomes worth reviewing.

forced retiring old app when new app is trash
too many frustrations i dont even know where to start.
basically when moving a piece from far left to the right. it will accidentally go to main menu. when you dont need a function frequently, dont make it too easy to access..
i imported so many games in the past years and now i cant access any of them in the new app. it is not an improvement but regression.
the app is pushing us back to webpage.. why bother developing a trash? we are going backwards

At least there is no ingame payments, everything is free. But other than that the other chess app is better.
Excellent App for Every Chess Fan
This app and website exists purely to grow the Chess community worldwide. You are free to pay nothing or support what you can afford. This is really special. App works perfectly unless you have signal issues when travelling in which case you can play offline.
Best Chess app
This is THE best chess app I have ever used. It's great for kids with a kid mode with no social media option. As for adults you can play multipule types of Chess with a forum for everyone. Great for puzzles, chat, and everyday chess. Deffinatley recommend.

This app is absolutely terrible compared to the old one! They should've at least waited to force us to use this new app when they stopped getting one star reviews on it.

This app is an 100% (no adds) free chess app. Has all the features, including board and piece customization, chess blogs, various modes, puzzles, and more. If you are serious chess player you need to consider this app.

I’m not sure if I can fully put to words how incredible lichess is as an app, a platform and a community work. For professionals and casual players alike, it’s important to get this significance.
Lichess is an established, well developed, free, place to play, analyze, and learn chess. After using chess.com for over a year of premium, I can say I’ve learned more in a month here than I ever did over on chess.com.
Ive played with more diverse player base and taken the community published lessons to clubs and meetups more than once.

Great start, room for improvement
First of all, as a free chess resource Lichess is amazing. But since this is a review, I need to point out the negatives too.
There are so many features that I feel I've only scratched the surface. But what's been uncovered by that scratch is impressive. Since I'm only a casual chess enthusiast I rarely play anyone but mostly use it for studying and the occasional game with the computer to test what I've been learning.
The ability to make your own customized studies is so much better than using a physical board -- because it provides a way to organize and review what you've learned while also including variations. But don't expect for it to be easy to learn how to use.
For example, it took me quite a while to figure out how to make a variation from the main line of a game, I'm studying and even now I'm not completely sure I'm doing it right. So one of the main problems I see is poor help materials on how to use the site.
On the other hand, there is a way to get help via their forum and I really appreciate that. But Lichess is an incredibly powerful software tool with all sorts of hidden features yet a steep learning curve.

The new clock placement sucks
Hard to play bullet when you can’t see the clock. I don’t get why the decision to move the clock was made.
New app
I’ve nearly played 7000 games on the old app. But this new app is horrendous to use! Why change something when it was working completely fine? I’ll be finding a new app to play.

Too complicated
I have been trying to figure it out for so long but I don’t know how to play against people.Before there was a page to pick what to play against like 10 + 5 min games and now I don’t know.So could you please put that in the front page…
The best chess app
I’m also having the bug where the analysis arrows disappear!
I switched after the chess.com app added unskippable video ads, and this is a much better experience. Unlimited puzzles and analysis, and good play at my beginner/intermediate level.
I really like the aesthetic customisations too. Great app
