Recording STILL doesn’t work

I feel dumb that I didn’t read these reviews before I spent so much money on a headset.

As others have mentioned, mine won’t record using any microphone source other than the iPhone internal mic. Of course this is useless in flight.

I called support and instead of admitting this is an ongoing issue, the guy acted like it was the first time he had heard it. I jacked around with installing, uninstalling, trying different devices, turning off Bluetooth connections on my aircraft radios, sending screenshot videos back and forth to the tech support guy, etc.

I’m really ticked off that they continue advertising this function when they know darned good and well that it doesn’t work. It really makes me want to send the headset back and demand my money back even though I’m past my trial period.

People respect me and my opinions on a very well known type forum and I will be sure to share my experience with Lightspeed.

Updated to add: I see that Lightspeed has provided a response telling me to contact their support line. Believe me, I’ve spent HOURS working with their support people. I’ve completely factory reset my Garmin radios, I’ve tried 3 different iOS devices. I’ve tried their app in all 3 of my planes as well as a PC12 and a Vision Jet I sometimes fly on contract. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled their app. Ive tried old versions of their app. I’ve sent them freaking screen grab videos of what happens when I try to use their app. Look up the definition of gaslighting and you’ll see that it was invented and perfected by Lightspeed. Their headset form factor fits my head and is more comfortable than their biggest competitor in the ANR field, but that’s the ONLY reason I still own them. The other popular brand sounds better and all their advertised functions just work. I guess that’s why I’m the only person I know who owns a Lightspeed and quite literally every other pilot I encounter uses Bose.

Recording not working

I purchased the Zulu 4 over the Bose A30 specifically for the ATC recording function since I’m starting flight lessons, but it doesn’t work. Only my voice was recorded the entire flight. I made sure to select ATC and ICS, but it isn’t working.

Battery charging inaccurate

All in all, not a great app for what is possibly a great headset

My biggest bug is the battery charging meter is not accurate at all when it’s on the charger I’ve seen it swing from 80% to 55% to 15% while charging

Doesn’t work

The headset cannot be connected to the app using Bluetooth! Their recommended app FlightLink works. So why keep marketing this app? Just remove it!

Recording does not work

As others have mentioned, the recording function does not work. This is my first Lightspeed purchase and unless they knock it off with the denial “edge case” BS it will likely be my last.

FAQ

What does the Lightspeed App do?

The Lightspeed App is a companion application for the Lightspeed Delta Zulu ANR headset. It allows users to monitor CO sensor levels in the aircraft in real-time, personalize audio with a hearing equalization system, and record and archive radio conversations for post-flight review and training.

How does the CO sensor feature work?

The app utilizes a CO sensor integrated into the Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset. It provides real-time smart alerts via Kanari™ technology and stores historical CO level data that can be reviewed during and after flights.

What is HearingEQity™?

HearingEQity™ is a built-in audio equalization system within the app. It performs an automated 12-frequency hearing test to create an individual hearing profile, compensating for hearing loss and variations between ears to optimize audio output from the headset.

Can I record my flights with this app?

Yes, the app allows pilots to record radio conversations and archive these flight recordings. This feature is useful for post-flight briefings, training purposes, and reviewing transmissions.

Is this app compatible with all headsets?

This app is specifically designed as a companion to the Lightspeed Delta Zulu ANR headset. Features like the integrated CO sensor and personalized audio equalization rely on the hardware capabilities of this particular headset model.
