Feels like scammy recently
The booking and pricing system they designed is to take advatage of teachers and students. All about money making. Hire a better CEO that cares about teaching and the people!!!
Cash grab
The platform started off great and I really loved it. But now every interaction I have feels like a cash grab or borderline scam. I have favorite teachers who I used to love taking classes from, but now they are allowed to cancel classes with zero notice leaving me with a teacher I don’t know and who honestly doesn’t care to teach me. I on the other hand am not allowed to cancel if this happens so I’m left with nothing to do.
Another issue is due to work I got behind on my classes a bit and have a big build up, i tried to pause my subscription, but in doing so I’m not allowed to take classes. The credits become completely unusable even though I have paid for them. Why not let me use them? Because it’s a cash grab.
The prices swing wildly as well. I noticed the price for my package is nearly half of what I’m paying. So new students get the new rate and old students get exploited, not a good way to treat loyalty, again cash grab.
They’ve also lowered teacher rates, so good teachers have just left completely, and those that stay cancel constantly (presumably when they have better opportunities elsewhere).
I can’t wait to finish using my credits and get out of this toxic predatory system.

Spanish Learning
I’m a big fan of Lingoda. I used Duolingo for a few years including the paid version. It was a good baseline, but having a program to iteratively work through and practice speaking has definitely advanced my learning and confidence. The teachers have all been really nice and helpful - I certainly have favorite ones. The lesson plans are good too, and progress at a good rate. Definitely happy with Lingoda having completely over 100 lessons now.

Ich lerne bei Lingoda Deutsch und bereite mich auf meinen Beruf in der Pflege vor. Die Lehrkräfte sind sehr kompetent und freundlich. Der Unterricht ist gut strukturiert, interaktiv und macht Spaß. Ich habe mein Deutsch deutlich verbessert und fühle mich sicherer im Berufsalltag. Ich kann Lingoda jedem empfehlen, der Deutsch lernen oder seine Sprachkenntnisse für den Beruf verbessern möchte.
