Revolutionary

I love the “line-read” feature, it disguises what otherwise may have been a robotic read into a specified performance with a believable voice. Aside from being a game changer in cue to cue rehearsal of line throughs, now there is a contender for self-tapes for those who want to focus on performance without having to ask for favors.

Stopped working

Says voice library loading. I cant use it now. And chat option not working

Not quite there yet

Still very buggy, so much so that it’s ruined one of my self tapes multiple times because the reader kept delaying their lines LOL. Look, it’s a great idea, but it isn’t there yet. And it’s certainly not worth the 10$/month price tag.

Response from developer

Hey Kidsushi45! Love the feedback, thank you for taking the time, you're awesome. We can only fix what we know about, and we'd LOVE to fix all the bugs that you encountered ASAP! Send us an email to support@getlinus.app with what happened and we'll get them all sorted out + make it right for you. Callan (Co-founder, Linus) 🧡

Love The Application Needs Tuning (adding another star)

The app is very useful for rehearsal before taping, and right now that’s the only thing I’d recommend it for. In actual auditions, subtext often gets misread, lines get jumbled, and the audio can come out rough.

Until the AI becomes more conversational, picking up on nonverbal cues written in the script and the like, I’d say this app puts you at a disadvantage compared to actors who have a real reader.

I appreciate how the team continues to work to improve this app. +2 stars from me.

Response from developer

Hi JahKoning, thanks for flagging this! You’re right - the previous version of Linus had a bug that caused instability once a recording size threshold was exceeded. This has now been fully resolved in v2.0.0. The latest update includes a rebuilt recording system that supports significantly longer sessions, along with secure cloud storage through our new Linus web platform to keep your tapes safe and accessible across devices. We’ve reached out personally and would really appreciate the opportunity to make this right. Callan Co-Founder, Linus

Unfortunately have to pay to use

The “free” option only lets you upload a scene with 10 lines, any scenes over that and you’re gonna have to start paying to use the app.

Response from developer

Hey there, Yes - that’s right! We use an AI platform to generate the voices that pays the voice artists every time their voice is used. This increases our running costs substantially, is a trade-off that we are aware of, and have made to protect artists and be ethical in our AI use. We do have non-subscription options available though: you can purchase a ‘Pro Pass’ when you only need Linus for 3 or 7 days for an audition or self tape. But 10 lines is usually enough for an Ad audition! Good luck with your next auditions, and thanks for your feedback 🙏 - Alfred
