Love the equipment, the App is horrible!
I love the lorex cameras and the nvr. I have upgraded three times in a little over two years. My only complaint, THE APP. When you need to see the cameras the most I am bombarded with ooops something went wrong, or just now I was trying to watch someone that came on to my porch and just as I’m about to see who
It could be it loads playback and zooms out. You can’t fast forward playback on the app which is very annoying as well. The lack of love the APP has been given is making me want to

Useless without notifications
I have 2 SL300 lightbulb cameras. One stopped working just after a few months of installation. I somehow got it to work again on my own (customer support over the phone was completely useless and I had to hang up from frustration). Now app notifications have completely stopped working, this making these devices completely useless for weeks now. I contacted customer support, and after 20 minutes of repeating myself over and over again, the agent told me in very broken English that they are aware of the issue. It’s not just me and they are working on it. Completely unacceptable. Waste of money and time.

Terrible
Lorex is a terrible product. Video constantly cuts out, quality is horrible. The playback doesn’t even have a fast forward option. So many negatives. I would never buy again.
Geofencing does not work
Even though their docs say it does work in Two years it’s worked once and Lorex doesn’t seem to care to fix it. Many complaints about not. I’ve spent $2000 on cameras but the app sucks as it is full of bugs often can’t comment to a camera when I really need it to and geofencing is no existent. The app is capable of it as I got a notice today entering home area but not when I’ll edit again later and returned. Fox this already. I cannot recommend this company. Even Arlo camera who is not a good company in my opinion was able to make geofencing g work most of the time.

For how much I paid for these cameras I would expect the app to work a lot better. I constantly get “unable to load”.
It’s OK – something to be desired
It’s OK. I’ve had eight cameras since 2022. I had them professionally installed. They are the kind that wire in. That said I can get an alert and then when I tap on the alert, I can’t see the video. It doesn’t ever load. I wait and I wait and I wait and I wait and I wait. So if there’s something that urgently needs my attention, it doesn’t get it. Maybe later when the stars align will Lorax allow me to see the video. Talking with customer support is a bit of a chore. They wanna look at everything that’s irrelevant before. They finally listen to what my concerns are and the research I’ve done to pinpoint a particular problem. They don’t know their cameras. Their personnel don’t seem to use them themselves.
If I’m searching for something on the cameras, it is a chore to go so slowly to find what happened and when. They don’t have an auto advance button that would advance 10 seconds or 30 seconds. And it’s hard to be super precise using just your finger and scrolling.
I do like having cameras around the house. i’m planning on moving and when I get my next house, I will explore a different provider for cameras.

Sucks in many ways
OFTEN says “oops something wrong” while trying to see footage remotely; notifications stopped working for no reason despite logged in and all settings on; or logs you out without a prompt so you also stop getting notified.
Play-back lags and doesn’t always work
My play back is constantly lagging whether I am on data or wifi, and 95% of the time I always get an error that something went wrong
Old app was better
My old app saved my default settings, my cameras were set to HD view every time I opened the app. With this app, the camera view defaults to SD and I have to hit HD on every camera every time I open the app to see a clear picture.
Worst App
80% of the time you get a sorry went wrong message. And slow
Notifications still broken 3 years
Update: this app has been updated many times and it’s still broken l. It randomly turns off notifications on certain cameras when it likes. It logs you out randomly for no reason. Pause alerts never works. If my company put out a product like this we’d be out of business. Garbage.

Very frustrating when you’re in an area with poor internet. At least with the thumbnail you can get a glimpse of what may be the trigger. PLEASE FIX THIS!!

PASSWORD SETTINGS
Why is a password (or face I.D.) required EVERY TIME the app is opened??? PLEASE MAKE SETTING TO DISABLE PASSWORD. for some of us it is not needed.
Terrible company
The app doesn’t work a lot of the time. Connection is terrible. I bought 3 home cameras and a doorbell camera and never got any working despite spending 20+ hours on setup and troubleshooting with lots of help. Customer service was useless; they literally told me to try calling back later. I requested a refund per their policy on their website and it was denied. I’m out $1,326 plus paying a handyman to install them. I’m literally throwing the brand new cameras in the trash.

Sporadic online
The Lorex Classic app works sporadically at best. When there is a situation happening I need it to work. I have been using the app, then all of sudden it stops working.

Overall, I find the app needs more work. I can only set one zone per camera and this conflicts with the alerts a want. Online help videos do not match the interface of the app or the NVR.
Terrible app
We use lorex cameras for our business. The cameras are constantly down or the app won’t work and says it won’t load. We have this in 5 stores so for them to be down constantly and not loading, it’s definitely an app issue. The worst part about these cameras is you cannot scroll through the timeless and have it play while scrolling. It takes hours to find exact portions of something happening since I have to guess. I can’t believe how worthless these cameras are, I will never buy Lorex again.

Works most of the time.
I got this system in January 2025. It worked great. Within the last six months or so, I have had problems viewing my cameras remotely. Randomly, one or more is offline. I get the error message “tap to retry.” This happens when I get a notification that someone or something is on my property. I go to see what it is, but the app fails. I updated the firmware and “rebooted the system” multiple times to no avail. It is disappointing. I really wanted to like it. I do not recommend.

Latest update broke SD/HD setting
It now always defaults to SD. Why?? No one wants to look at their 4k cameras in SD. FIX IT ASAP!!!
I’m about ready to completely switch out my system due to the app doing this and also needing to be forced quit just to connect 😡
