About

Dividing an inheritance under Islamic law is hard to get right - the fractions interact, some relatives exclude others, and a single extra heir can change everyone's share. Mawareth does the Faraid for you, then shows the working so you actually understand it. Tell Mawareth who passed away and who survived them. It calculates each heir's share under Sunni inheritance law (mirath / faraid) - the exact fraction, the amount in money, and a plain-language reason for every number. No hand-drawn tables, no guesswork, no spreadsheet. WHY MAWARETH IS DIFFERENT * It explains, not just answers. Every heir's share comes with a one-line reason - why a wife takes 1/8 instead of 1/4 when there are children, why a brother is excluded by a son, why a case scales under Awl. * A guided flow, not a wall of fields. It asks who the deceased was, then walks through spouse, children, parents, and other relatives one calm step at a time. * It only asks what matters. Add a son and the siblings he excludes simply are not asked about - the questions adapt to the real rules as you go. * Exact-fraction math. Shares are computed as true fractions, never rounded guesses, so the totals always add up correctly. WHAT IT COVERS * The fixed shares (Ashab al-Furud): husband, wife, mother, father, daughters, son's daughters, full and consanguine sisters, uterine siblings, and grandmothers. * Residue (Asaba), including the correct 2:1 male-to-female distribution. * Awl and Radd - the cases where shares are scaled down or returned. * Blocking rules (Hajb) - who excludes whom, always with the reason shown. * Rare, scholarly disputed cases - detected and flagged clearly, so you know to consult a specialist rather than trust an automatic answer. ESTATE, DEBTS, AND BEQUESTS * Enter the estate value to see each share as money as well as a fraction. * Account for debts, funeral costs, and a bequest (wasiyah) before the estate is divided - Mawareth applies them in the right order and caps the bequest at one third automatically. ENGLISH OR ARABIC * One tap switches the entire app between English and Arabic. * Arabic mode is fully right-to-left, with Arabic numerals (7/12) and correct Faraid terminology. SAVE AND SHARE * Every calculation is saved to a private history you can reopen anytime. * Export any result as clean text or a PDF to share with family or an advisor. PRIVATE BY DESIGN * Everything is calculated on your device. No account, no sign-in, no data collected, and no internet connection required. Your family's details never leave your phone. A NOTE ON SCOPE Mawareth covers the common cases the four Sunni schools agree on. For complex estates or the rare disputed cases it flags, please consult a qualified scholar. The results are a learning and planning aid, not a fatwa. Free. No ads. No tracking. No subscriptions.
