Charges during peak times

Have to keep stopping the cars from charging during the most expensive time during the day at home. Also starts charging again before 12am. Setting for app and Tesla app are set to charge only from 12am-3pm. Very frustrating. Rebate does not make up for peak time charging errors.

Can’t sync

The app can’t sync to my car most of the time. I miss out on most of the events that generate money and who knows what my cost savings are with the app. Months of working with support with no progress.

Give back

Nice to get at least a little back from this absurd price in electricity.

Carbon savings!

This app has been great in helping me understand the carbon impacts of my charging and automatically charging during lower carbon times. The Tesla app works well for scheduling charging to start at a certain time, but doesn’t allow for additional carbon savings associated with charging, so MCE Sync has helped with that. As with all apps there are bugs here and there, but the customer support team has been helpful with those.

Won’t connect to Chevy Bolt EUV

Won’t connect with car. Useless.

Terrible App

This app caused me nothing but trouble.
1- First they don’t update the rates when the rates went up resulting in wrong energy cost and missleading saving.
2- occasionally the app will charge your car during peak when using their so called “smart charge”!
3- when rates go up, they don’t update the price limit accordingly, and with no warning the app will stop charging your car once the rate went up above the prior price limit. You find out in the morning that your car wasn’t charged. Instead they should update the price limit or notify you to update.
Poor design and poor engineering of what could have been otherwise a useful app.

Accessibility issues

App does not support large type accessibility font settings. I am vision impaired and having trouble seeing text on key screens. If I have test big enough to see, the action buttons are not scrollable for me to see them.

Don’t bother

This app doesn’t do anything your Tesla app can’t do. It doesn’t save you money as claimed. You can schedule smart charging using your Tesla app just the same. And the stats and saving it shows are completely bogus since they don’t update the electricity rates.

Doesn’t accommodate Homes with Solar and Battery

I have a Tesla and solar+battery at my home. When I charge in the afternoon there is no grid usage because it’s charging off my solar and battery. However, MCE Sync will automatically stop my car from charging because of the time of day. As a result, I had to disable it. It needs to accommodate homes with solar and batteries and realize that these homes don’t use the grid to charge when the sun is up.

Response from developer

Hello, We are working to support home batteries in the future, and understand that it is a critical function for many MCE customers to have within the app. However, the app does currently supports home solar charging. Please send a note to mce-support@ev.energy so we can connect and help fix this issue for you!  -Reid

Great app!

I love seeing the low carbon events coming through on the app - lets me know when Im charging with cleaner electricity. Good stuff!
