Malicious links and spam

Meetup continues to do nothing about the constant spammers posting malicious links in meetup groups. Accounts are CONSTANTLY trying to scam people with fake job offers. This has been going on for years now.

We live in a world of AI and machine learning; how has this not been fixed?

Focus more on my groups

It’s a good idea – but I wish it made it easier to view “my groups” than its pick of “all groups“. The lack of a quick access point to see exactly what’s happening in my groups this week is a real limitation.

Amazing concept just need more marketing!

Omg the concept of this app is so smartttt the monkey issue is if you don’t live in one of the big cities there’s not much going on, im sure if more people knew about this app it would be amazing for making friends and finding community

Really?

$40 a month! Too pricey

Made the right choice

09/06/2026 Don’t download it, don’t install it, don’t even think about it. Just go through the reviews and you will see why. The 4.7 rating is fake. Don’t trust it.

08/06/2026 Seems people really hate this app and for good reasons. One guy complained about 2 gig of stored cache. Try 70 gig. Not a joke. How it skyrockets its cache alone warrants deleting this garbage app.

How is this app still rated 4.7? Virtually every review for the past year is negative. Very suspicious. Deleted this garbage app in mid March and given the recent reviews I made the right choice. Why anyone would pay money for it is insane.

Billing and membership

So hard to use, I keep getting advertisements for a membership I’m already in. I’m struggling to access the features promised on the membership outline. There is no way to contact support.

Existing Users?

Why on earth did I need to go through a 7-step onboarding flow just to get to the screen where I could login to my existing account?

Not for me

I’m too old for this group at 81

Terrible

Throwing randoms in a group doesn’t change anything so be ready for that and also premium charges you and doesn’t refund if you cancel that day so…. Lost that money

Review

No representatives to speak with about billing or any issues .

Too expensive

This app has become too expensive. Maybe offer a lower priced version or a free version like at one time you did. You can charge a price to people who want to list an event and maybe a free version for those just looking for events. It’s now out of my price range so I will delete it .

Ads and bad event recommendations

Can’t find anything near my hobbies or fun and I live in a big city.

Paywall

Everything is behind a paywall and it makes it super fking annoying to do anything for free

Unauthorized charges!!

Completely unscrupulous company charged me TWICE on the same day for a subscription I NEVER authorized. Already filed a dispute. These guys need to be banned from App Store.

Old review:
Like Evernote, Bending Spoons take over an app and community and jack up all the prices, adding “features” nobody wants.

Cost

They want 12.99 a week for this which seems out of line with what this app provides. Maybe 12.99 a month but even that seems expensive to me. Probably better to just use Facebook groups or something

Wasteful

Even after buy premium you still have to pay to chat not worth it

Pay money for human connection

It’s like dating apps but for human connection. I ran a 600 person group on on here for years before the hefty fees got to me.

On the attendee side of things I think its a great app though

$9.99 a week?

Come on it’s meetup not goldup.

Bloated and doesn’t work on 5G away from wifi

Meetup is a great idea but the app needs work! Basic ability to use when away from wifi it times out and the apple storage says it’s taking up 3GB of space???!!!

Refund money

Meetup

I am making a formal complaint regarding repeated charges for a Meetup Member Subscription.

I downloaded the Meetup app myself, but I did not realise that the subscription would continue automatically and charge me $14.99 AUD every week. I only discovered the subscription after noticing that money had repeatedly been taken from my account.

I have now found approximately six recurring charges. I did not intend to continue a weekly paid subscription, and I did not use the paid subscription benefits during these periods.

As soon as I became aware of these charges, I immediately cancelled the subscription.

I have contacted Apple and requested refunds. So far, I have only received a partial/prorated refund for one charge, while the other charges have not been refunded.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience. I believe the recurring weekly charges were not sufficiently clear to me when I subscribed, and I would not knowingly have agreed to continue paying $14.99 every week.

I am requesting that Meetup review my subscription and billing history and assist me in obtaining refunds for all of the remaining recurring charges.

Please also confirm that my subscription is fully cancelled and that I will not be charged again.
