App has become expensive, full of spam (including their ads). Definitely used to be better now I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone
Bug: Text notifications render html
I am seeing html in the text notifications for meet up events like the bold text tags

Ridiculous amount of spammers on this app and the MeetUp team doesn’t fix it. Every day the groups I’m apart of getting spammed like crazy.
Restricting and tech bugs
If you want to find an app where its owners and developers come up with infuriating ways to get you to pay the astronomical annual subscription, then this is the app for you. The challenging ways they use to block or time-out views on the app so you get so frustrated, you think about paying…..not me.
It is now so full of bugs I can’t tell if it’s another pathetic way to grab payment or it’s a bug.
1. Reduce the subscription (more ming join)
2. Stop playing games with tech ideas to get users to pay the £179 annual fee.
3. Fix the damn bugs
4. Stop blocking/restricting security items e.g. not
being able to see who is going to an event.

Too much AI, not enough humanity!
Meetup gives a ridiculous cheap 7 day free trial. Mistakes Galore, and NO human response In that limited time, the one event I managed to host had BOTH a wrong address and wrong directions! AI tried to blame Google Maps, never heard back from a human being who can actually solve problems- still got charged anyway, and am now requesting a refund- stay away from Meetup!
P.S. Oh, and they Shanghai creators by luring them onto the platform and then kidnap their Group to extort fees

Disappointing
Beware! You must pay for a subscription to be able to access groups and message group leaders to get into the groups.
I previously heard good things about meetup groups but immediately when I created my app account I was pushed to sign up for paid services with the app (not group-related expenses but just to join the app). I wasn’t sure if I had to pay to play or if I could be a free member and connect with groups but after some searching I found out the app tries to monetize every customer regardless of whether we just want to participate in groups or we want to create and manage groups. So if you ever need to direct message a member of the group, you have to have a subscription. I don’t need to pay to find friends and activities. I’ll use other platforms that are less greedy.

Ruined meetup
I have been a part of meetup since around 2008. I hosted many events for different groups in cities I’ve lived throughout the years, for 5 years I ran my own meetup here in Albuquerque 2021- 2026. I deleted my group this year. People are leaving the app in mass. Now you have to pay for everything since leaving as an organizer I’ve seen why. I can’t even see the picture of people I’ve previously talked to in my messages. Before I left I noticed more and more people were just not showing up. Sometimes an event that had more than 10 people would end up with just me there. It is very sad to me that an app I use to love for nearly 2 decades has gone down hill so quickly and basically pointless to use now. Hope they are happy with the “improvements” they made. Would give zero stars if I could.

7월14일 어제 14,000원 내고 구입했는데 앱에 오류가 뜨더니 계속 결제 재진행 하라고 뜨더군요. 제 카드에선 실제로 결제 완료된 알림이 왔고요. 7월15일 하루지났는데 어제와 동일한 시간대에 14,000원 또 결제되네요. 이거 환불해주세요.

Hello, Apple denied my refund request, so I’m contacting you directly. My subscription was renewed automatically, and I have not used Meetup or any paid features since the charge. Would you please consider making a one-time exception and issuing a refund? Thank you.
Constant spam emails
I haven’t used meetup for years and I am constantly getting spam emails from meetup addresses at least 4 a day. I have deactivated my account and tried contacting them but can’t turnt he emails off it is so annoying.
Bloated app. Never clears cache
This app install is terribly managed it has ballooned to 6gb. There is no need for this much local data to be stored for an app like this that’s constantly streaming.
UX is clearly a money grab
They try to get you to upgrade every chance they can. Back button takes you so far back you have to look at the upsell again and again and again.
Search is useless
Trying to find local hiking and dog groups in meetups. Set filters to in person and within 25 miles. Typed in what I was looking for. Got everything but and most were online and a lot were 150 miles away. Set my location and made sure it was on. Waste of time trying to find local groups.

I’m not paying upfront for this sorry guys. Pity this used to be a good app.
