User reviews

Majestic

I have never left a review before but felt obligated to because of the impact of this app for me. It is elegant, simple, functional, majestic. The user interface is intuitive and unobstructive, the data is simple to process but also in depth for those with analytical minds who like to dig in deeper. It truly is a game changer for anyone with an Apple Watch and suffers from migraines. I’m glad I took a chance on the app with its few reviews, it paid in spades.

Response from developer

To be honest, I was having a headache when I saw your comment, and I was very happy. This honestly made my day — thank you. As a migraine sufferer myself, I built MigraineZen to feel calm when your brain _isn’t_ calm: simple on the surface, but deep if you want to dig into the data. Hearing you describe it as intuitive and unobstructive tells me the design is doing its job. And thank you for taking a chance when there were only a few reviews. That kind of trust is rare, and I don’t take it lightly. Wishing you fewer surprises and more predictable days ahead.

Sceptical at first now I swear by it

I live with chronic and hemiplegic migraines, and this app has genuinely been a game changer. I was sceptical at first and ignored one of the warning signs early on because I hadn’t been using it long. I soon found out why that was a mistake when I had a hemiplegic migraine while out in public. Since using the app properly, I’ve gained a much better understanding of my triggers. Highly recommend.

Response from developer

Thank you for writing this — I really felt it. I live with migraine too, and I know how easy it is to ignore an early warning, especially when you’re still testing a new tool. I’m truly sorry you had to learn it the hard way — a hemiplegic migraine in public is scary. I’m grateful the app is helping you spot patterns and triggers earlier. That “a little more warning” is exactly what I hoped it could give people. Wishing you safer, steadier days — and please take good care, especially with hemiplegic symptoms.

Okay, could be better with some adjustments

The app would be a lot better if you could adjust some things. Particularly I wish that logging a headache did not keep you from using the app until the headache is over. My migraines can last days. I end up not logging them most of the time or just ending it on the app. Also, the way it grades sleep doesn’t seem that effective. It says my sleep is fragmented all the time, even when I sleep well and feel great. So I end up ignoring that. It has not been accurate for predicting headache days since every single day I am at “high risk” because of the way it scores. I have one or two migraines a week, sometimes no migraines for several weeks. It makes the app not very useful. Also, it should have more medications available. I take Nurtec and it’s not an option. Or it could have a write in option for other medications

Response from developer

Thank you for the candid feedback. This is exactly the type of rigorous stress-testing we need to refine the model. 1. Logging Logic: You are absolutely right. The headache log should never block the dashboard. We are redesigning this flow immediately so you can access your data while an attack is active. 2. Algorithm Calibration: We hear you on the 'High Risk' fatigue. We are shipping a 'Baseline Calibration' update that will allow the model to learn your specific sleep architecture, rather than using a general baseline. 3. Medication: Nurtec and a 'Custom Add' option are prioritized for the next sprint. We are building this for the long haul. Keep the feedback coming—we are listening.

A hidden gem

I honestly almost scrolled past this because it didn't have many reviews yet, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. It has become essential for my daily routine. Most apps just ask you to log pain, but this one is different.

It just quietly analyzes my sleep quality and heart rate variability in the background. Last week, I woke up feeling fine, but the app flagged a "High Risk" day based on my REM fragmentation the night before. I took it easy, skipped my usual morning run, and avoided a major episode that likely would have knocked me out for two days.

The only headache app that uses actual biometric data to uncover patterns. The daily risk forecast is incredibly helpful. It feels empowering to have a forecast based on my biology rather than just random guesses. Plus, knowing all my health data stays on my phone and isn't uploaded to some cloud server gives me huge peace of mind. It’s a solid 5 stars from me.

Response from developer

This is exactly why we built the app. We believe the future of health isn't about logging pain—it's about predicting it. We’re thrilled that the REM fragmentation alerts gave you the foresight to adjust your day and dodge an episode. That is the power of local-first, privacy-focused computing. You own your data; we just help you decode it. Thanks for trusting us with your recovery.
