Internet/data werkt niet en je kunt niet bellen, WhatsApp als je Wifi hebt en daar willen ze je info en je hoort niets meer terug.

Change default language

Is there a way to change the default language from Dutch to English? Other phone company apps offer this. Without this option, I have to go to the desktop website to check on my account

Scam

The most scam provider ever, turn off all internet in app but still pay 200 euro for using data…

Beware: there is no way to tell Simyo to disable your data service when your data runs out. Why does this matter? Because they immediately charge you 0,15 EUR / MB. That’s about 40 EUR for a 5 minute YouTube video. Yes, they send notifications, but if like me you don’t monitor your text messages and email by the minute, you may find yourself with a huge bill. It’s an exploitative and unethical business model and I’d be shocked if it’s not illegal. Their support chat can take half a day to get back to you and let you know they’re not going to help you. The design of the app is confusing and looks like a German website from 2005, and seems like it was developed by 2 low-skill programmers. If you’re reading this and you’ve experienced anything similar with Simyo, please chime in with your experience and report them to the ACM (Autoriteit Consument & Markt) if you think it’s justified. These people are getting rich off by extracting cash from people in NL who probably live day to day or paycheck to paycheck.

profoundly bad app

half a step above a website from 1994 but with none of the charm

constant errors (app relaunch required), terrible design, bugs galore, odd payment structures/flows and no english

data running out? expect a dutch text about how you’re going to be charged .15€/MB by the slimebags running this company. miss the text and there goes 50€ for a 5min youtube video. god help you if you go beyond that.

Not in English

I really wanted to utilize the service, but it doesn’t give you an option to change the language to English despite the app saying available in English. This seems to have been a problem two years ago that is not been resolved. It’s a bummer because the rates seem to be very great.

Very stressful subscription for foreigners

I don’t mind having to translate things but it would be extremely helpful as the app is already complicated enough.

However this language barrier had led me to a quite a few complications;

1) When trying to transfer my phone number to Simyo (which turns out I couldn’t), I still continued to use the data I paid for the month. However without a phone number I was left with an outrageous bill of around 250 euros for using the data for simply a couple of days (obviously I turned my data off when I noticed). Thankfully they waived this as a first time user.

2) I ran out of data after traveling but one day before my renewal… I had a simple warning text and thought my data would just simply run out. This gave me a 150 euro bill which led me to the discovery of the .50 data cap (not clear enough for the non-native speakers)

3) I arrive to the US to visit family and had planned to switch mobile data users. The second I turn of airplane mode to do so… a 60 euro fine for simply 30 seconds of accidentally using my data. After complaining just enough, luckily they were kind enough to waiver these fees.

PS. And if you’re trying to have your grandad call you from the UK, you better be prepared to spend around 20 euros more on top of your subscription (this I understood why but the price I did not).

I genuinely think they have a great deal but the out of pocket costs are too risky and too much for students who can’t speak the language properly and don’t know what they’re getting into. I would understand these costs if I was an American visiting Europe (I’ve seen a friends insane monthly phone bill which makes me grateful for living in the EU). However an international student shouldn’t worried about extreme phone bills especially with how expensive the cost of living is already for students.

I apologize for the long review but this was my experience. Maybe you can have a better one if you don’t make these simple mistakes like I did as a foreigner. Duolingo can’t teach you to read an eSIM application.

Kan niet gebruiken

Mijn mobiele telefoon is Apple 13promax, de Amerikaanse versie, die esim ondersteunt, maar als ik het gebruik, word ik in de tweede stap gevraagd dat mijn mobiele telefoon esim niet ondersteunt, wat me veel stoort.

Hoi, bedankt voor je review. Op toestellen uit het buitenland kan het voorkomen dat het installeren van eSIM niet afgerond kan worden omdat de software dat niet toestaat. In dit geval kun je dus helaas geen gebruik maken van eSIM. Groetjes, Simyo Webcare

Waardeloos

Zo stom dat je niet een nieuwe internet bundel kan kopen voordat je “oude” bijna op is. Dan zit je echt uren zonder internet en moet je echt lang wachten voor je weer een nieuwe kan kopen. De optie om een nieuwe te kopen is “tijdelijk niet beschikbaar “, want de links in de app doen het gewoon niet. En via een internet browser werkt niet, want die gaat gelijk naar de app.

Dit is inmiddels bekend bij de juiste afdeling en zij zijn aan het kijken voor een oplossing. Het kopen van een internet bundel via Mijn Simyo web is wel mogelijk. Onbetrouwbare app

Zelfs als je de app zodanig instelt dat die geen internet mag gebruiken, doet die het toch. Zelfs als je de instellingen op de mobiel instelt (system preferences) dat er geen internet verbinding via Simyo mag worden gemaakt, gebeurt het toch.
Nb dit probleem niet gehad met andere providers.

Ik Greek korting omdat ik bevriend ben met iemand die symyo gebruikt van 10.000 naar 20.000 Omg

Do not use! Extortionate shock bill.

Shock bill €150 for 1 extra GB of data and bill kept going up when tethered to partners phone!

klantvriendelijk

Ik ben net bij Simyo overgestapt en het bevalt mij super goed! De medewerkers staan klaar om je te helpen zijn erg klantvriendelijk en bieden advies aan. De app zelf spreekt ook voor zichzelf en is daarom beter te overzien!

Dutch to English

Why is your awesome app only in danish when the store says it's in english? There is no language change anywhere in the settings.
