Pretty Bad
New update to the app is quite hilariously bad. The last one wasn’t great but was intuitive and kept things in order. The only thing users want is the digital copy of the writings they make on their notebooks. But the update seems to try to be something else that no one really asked for. The data transfer is also very poor and i wish they gave me a warning in advance so I was able to have a copy of my data from the old app. I’m sure there’s work arounds for the data transfer as well but because the interface is hard to navigate you end up with lost data or just feeling really unorganized.

New update is horrendous
The original app wasn’t flashy, but reliable and fairly intuitive. The newest update has been a cluster from the beginning.
It is incredibly slow, choppy, nothing is loading.
It will not load any of the pages. Absolutely useless now.

Total downgrade
App update a blatant rip off. The old app (v2) had really quite effective handwriting recognition making notes indexable and searchable. And so properly ‘smart’ and useful compared with simple pen and paper notes. In this new version (June 2026) the default (free) recognition is total rubbish, not a single word recognised. And guess what? You can upgrade to AI powered recognition for £10 per month!!!!! The pen was £200 on its own, but it worked and was useful. I have two filled notebooks which are now effectively just paper-based. Selling my pen on eBay and deleting this. I wish it would let me give zero stars.

Getting There
App works pretty well but doesn't capture everything. The constant reminder to leave a review is frustrating and knocked it down two stars.
I need to pay to view the calendar? Very disappointed
After using the Smart Pen and being at my 3rd notebook, I had to update the app discovering that now I would need to pay for a subscription 70£ a year to see my daily events. I need to be “pro” to see the events (even the events that I manually create!) and being able to open and manage the calendar through the app. What? Is this the big improvement from the old app?
That is very disappointing for a client who has never betrayed you over the years. I understand there are management costs but I paid a lot for the set and as longstanding client that trusted this feature even if there were a thousands much better out there, now having to pay to see my calendar feels really like a betrayal!!
