Amazing Jellyfin Client

Very responsive UI, a lot of customization, and an overall clean look makes this one of my favorite clients to recommend to anyone. It also has things like emulation support! The plugin really supercharges the client and lets you dig deep into user defaults and more.

The devs are very active and responsive to feature requests and bug reports, both on github and discord.

Definitely give this client a try, it won’t hurt a bit :)

A great Jellyfin client

I’ve tried a number of different iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV clients for Jellyfin. Moonfin is my favorite.

Easy to login to. Easy to use. Easy on the eyes. Very customizable. Packed full of features. From playing retro games, to watching Live TV, to playing all of my movies and TV shows, Moonfin does it all.

I love that it does it across my entire Apple ecosystem, keeping all of my settings in sync. Truly a joy to use.

Amazing!

As far as jellyfin Apple apps go, this is the best! Looks beautiful, plays great and has all the features I expect. Also very responsive devs on Reddit and GitHub

Best Jellyfin client

Hated the way jellyfin looked, tried a few clients but ultimately this one wins for clean design, customization, ease of use, and the developer(s?) are incredibly responsive and helpful.

A lot to customize and I love it

I love how much you can customize the app to make it look exactly how you want. The interface and home screen look so much better now thanks to all the improvements the developer has been making. I also really like the new animations—they make the app feel much more polished.

Playback works well overall, but I did notice one bug. If I’m watching something, pause it, lock my phone, then unlock it and press play again, the screen turns white. I have to exit the video and reopen it for playback to work normally.

Another thing I’d like to point out is the Skip Outro button. I don’t like that it stays on the screen the entire time. I’d prefer if it appeared for a few seconds and then faded away. I don’t mean it should disappear completely—I still want to be able to skip the outro if I choose. The button could simply hide visually and reappear if I tap the screen. Some shows detect the outro very early (sometimes around eight minutes before the episode actually ends), so having the Skip Outro button visible for that long distracts from the viewing experience.

Other than those minor issues, everything has been great. I know this is still a relatively new project, and I’m really happy with the progress that’s being made. I’m excited to see how the app continues to improve.

Not perfect, but good enough

It seems like every Jellyfin client has at least one major issue that prevents it from being the only one installed on my phone, but this looks to be the first to have all the features I care about while actually being reliable. That’s not to say this still doesn’t have its issues (media not being recognized as now playing is a pretty big one), but compared to all your other choices, this is a very solid one.

Buggy mess on AppleTV

The previous version was a bit clunky but it worked, this new version is basically unusable on AppleTV. Folder browsing is broken. Lots of strange pauses and lag. I had it bring up the user switch screen when I was just trying to navigate to a new page. The Apple Remote is way too sensitive in the app, making very difficult to enter passwords or navigate. I really don’t want to go back to Infuse, but until they get this fixed up, not much choice.

Very good Jellyfin player but

Newest update broke user and password entry. Please go back to default system keyboard, I cannot paste from my computer using phone entry since you are using a proprietary keyboard

Nice

A great client. Lots of active development and improvements.

Response from developer

Hello! This was fixed in v2.2.0 as it was mentioned in the proper GitHub issues location as well as addressed in the community discord. Have a great weekend!

Emby Connect not Working

Just used the same creds from logging into Emby on the web as I did on the app and the app is telling me it’s invalid

Really nice app

App feels really smooth and the updates to fix issues is very appreciated. You also get to really customize everything about it. From app themes, layouts, home bar, navigation, etc. if you have at least 2 brain cells you can easily figure it out. Thanks for a great app!!

Used to be my go-to

Pros: Will play pretty much any kind of file without a sweat on Apple TV 4K 3rd gen. Because of this it used to be my go-to app over any of the alternatives for tvOS.

Cons: Ever since the last update contrast/colorspace has been broken, causing blacks to appear washed-out. This issue affects all video files regardless of codec, original colorspace etc. Sadly I can no longer use this app unless I want the experience of watching movies on a cheap LED TV on my OLED.

Multiple issues have been posted to the GitHub about this and I’m yet to see dev input on any of them, so I’m not sure if this is something that will be fixed anytime soon.

Mild Nuances

Love the ui and overall look, downloads play only audio and no video so it’s not the best for offline viewing.

Phenomenal app, but two things lacking

For a free application this app is beyond the expectation anyone should have, I only wish that home videos had support to download videos, as well as the art covers being album style as the default JellyFin server supports it. Besides that for no ads or premium pop ups this app is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.

good with some quirks

Current issues:

My locally downloaded files are no longer playable.

Navigation is kind of a mess.

Desktop mode on iPad was an improvement, can we bring it back?

———

Download and manage local videos, direct play everything. Some quirks and bugs that I won’t get into here.

Biggest plus I noticed on my iPad is it used the appropriate amount of battery, i.e. it is efficient and utilizes the hardware.

If this could somehow combine with Swiftfin and get the best of both apps, it would beat everything else, paid or otherwise.

Best Jellyfin client

This is the best, the most beautiful and the most versatile Jellyfin client. The development team is doing a tremendous job! And it’s getting better and better ✨✨✨✨✨

Ability to download and quickly switch profiles is great!

Thankfully, there are many Jellyfin clients available these days, and most of them are excellent. I just ran into Moonfin, and it’s now my go to app on iOS. The interface is beautiful, and definitely feels premium. The best features that set it apart is the ability to easily download content from your server for offline viewing, and a very clean interface for switching users.

Compared to Plex, the one thing I liked about Plex (I’ve dropped it for good now) was its clean way of switching profiles, which Jellyfin lacks. This app does the best job creating a nice user profile view for easily switching between users. Great job!

Almost

Looks good, runs good. Just wish I could see genres on my home section.

A VLC like video filter would be handy too (being able to change brightness, contrast, gamma, etc., past 100% values)

Very slick and intuitive Jellyfin client

While the login process could be very slightly improved (change Add User to Login and give simple instructions for how to locate Quick Connect on another device), everything else is really clean and functional. On tvOS, it’s simply better than most other streamers in terms of UI and UX. Kudos to you, Axl. Brilliant work!
