Credits will just disappear out of nowhere.
Do not download. Credits just disappear if you don’t use them!
Terrible app, predatory practices
I foolishly signed up during a discounted trial period. Towards the end I went to the app to cancel only to see no cancel button and a message saying my subscription is ending next month. Great! I thought, there’s nothing to be done. Then a few months later I notice they’ve still been charging me monthly. My fault for not checking my billing statements closely. I try to log back into my account to check my subscription but I can’t even do it because the app keeps crashing (already have the latest version). I ask for a refund, they say they only refund the most recent month but that I can escalate to the billing department. Or they can give me some credits. I ask them to escalate and they say they can only refund the recent month. I say then fine give me the credits. They say we already gave you that partial refund so credits aren’t an option anymore. Genuinely the most predatory company I’ve interacted with and that’s saying a lot.. would honestly rather pay triple for movie tickets for the rest of my life than interact with them again. Lesson learned to never sign up with my actual credit card!

Tried after it came back.
Had trouble first movie I wanted to see. Second movie worked fine. Log in. Or any promos through email have never worked. If everything is working smooth it offers value. Feels like it’s full of bugs everytime I try to sue this service. Maybe I’ll come back in a year and try again. This year didn’t work well. Promo could invalid from a promo email sent TODAY.

Waste of time!
This is a really bad design compared to what it used to be. The app has bugs and charges you twice for the same purchase, then the help desk informs you there’s nothing they can do about it! The monthly charges are up by $3 and the credits don’t even roll over if you have a new account. My friend has an old account and his monthly charge remains the old one and his credits roll over every month. Waste of time and money.

This app rocks and I used the original
Okay so the original app sad to say wasn’t financially viable. This one actually is. I love the credit system. I wish they’d give us the options for imax and Dolby or specialty theaters but that’s not a biggie. I will admit I have this and A list. I even have gone to 5 movies in one day using both. MoviePass is a great service especially for those that maybe only go to a few movies a week or a month. It’s better than any service the other chains offer like Cinemark or Regal. Their plans well Cinemark doesn’t have one and Regals plan you have to pay up charges if you want to watch on a bigger screen and to cancel you have to email someone and hope they cancel before they charge you. You also have to do 3 months period but everyone has switched to that I believe minus MoviePass.
So I don’t get all the bad ratings for this app. It’s almost as if they have never had a service like this and don’t get what it’s about. I used to use my MoviePass for my local theater then it shutdown but now a new one is open. Cinemark. It’s only 20 minutes from my home whereas AMC is an hour. So I look forward to using my MoviePass more often now.
Will say the 24 hour lock from when you purchase your last ticket kinda blows. So you have to time it right if you want to go watch another movie the next day because you can’t get a ticket till after 24 hours after you clicked on the last film. I get why but I wish they reset everyday giving you more flexibility but when you realize that feature you just work around it.
So for those angry at the app I’d love to know why you’re angry. Moviepass rocks and Stacey Spikes has brought back a great app that is highly competitive in the industry and better yet helps get movie lovers into movie theaters. That’s what movie theaters want. Anyway give Moviepass a try. If you aren’t sure go for the 1st or 2nd tier and see if you use up the credits you have for the month or save some. The saved credits do roll over to your max allotment. I myself am curious will I use up my credits now that a local theater is near my home.
Of course I still have AMC but I watch 3-4 movies in one day because driving an hour to an hour plus doesn’t make financial sense with gas so high. So THANK YOU STACEY for bringing back an awesome app.
